scoop - mmmm....what sort of bhp increase would I be seeing ;)

Apparently stock turbos run out of puff at around 17psi, i dont take mine above 15 psi, but with a chip, induction kit and exhaust at around 15 psi its got to be somewhere in the region of 340 to 350 bhp. so whats that maybe a 60 bhp increase.

ย

Sound reasonable eveyone?

Chip and boostcontroller can net you around 60-80BHP with no other mods, although most people start with induction, exhaust, decat :)

ย

Hmm I guess a fraction is not noticeable, stock 0-60s are manual 5.6s, auto 5.7s I think.

ย

I still havent hooked my G-Tech meter up to mine but I'd hope for a fraction ;) under 5 seconds

ย

Pete

Scoops I reckon 15psi will give a lot more than that, mine dynoed last year at 350 at 12.5psi...

ย

Probably more like 380-390, if everything is running well obviously.

The more and more I read the more I must have one :0). Out of interest how many people run there zx's everyday (i.e. to work and back)?

ย

I run mine every day to work and back, 12 miles (ish) each way plus a bit of running about and it costs me about ยฃ50 a week in fuel.

ย

As for running costs, when i totalled my bills up last i had spent ยฃ2,377 on general maintainance and servicing etc but thats over 2 years, so when you look at it like that just over ยฃ20 a week to keep a zed on the road isn't bad i dont think.

ย

Those figures dont include insurance and tax etc, at 23 i guess you would be looking at over a grand a year, if you get an import most insurance companies will demand a tracker wheras uk will only need cat 2 immobiliser and possibly need a cat 1 alarm.

ย

Benefits of uk and jap vary, but on a uk you will get wider rear tyres and actuated rear shocks, but the japs have electic folding mirrors to compensate!!! leather used to be rare on the japs but not so anymore.

ย

Parts wise you will pay no more for jap bits than uk ones (as 95%) of them are the same, and some (like the rear shocks) are actually cheaper than the uk ones.

ย

Be very careful buying from dealers too, im not saying that they are all bad but ive seen people pay ยฃ6k+ for cars that aren't half as good some that people have bought for ยฃ4k.

ย

Buy a good one and you'll be very happy, buy a bad one and it will financially ruin you!!

ย

Good Luck in your search.

ย

If you search on the forum for dodgy dealers it should tell you where to steer clear of.

Mines a daily driver to and from work each day, plus the running about at weekends etc.....

ย

Love it!! :D

ย

Picked mine up for ยฃ3k, spent the same on it since I reckon........didn't need too really but I just have!! ;)

ย

Buy a Z, it makes sense......as long as you find a good one!! :)

ย

Matty.

b19rks - Thanks mate thats some really sound advice ยฃ50 a week on fuels a fair whack but that's to be expected for such a beat :0).

ย

Matty - It's good to hear from peeps running them daily I'd need to do around 20 miles a day from work and back + the weekends :0)
