Help!

the wheel studs/bolts that were put on as an emergency measure after my rear wheel nuts sheared off on the M6, need replacing, so i rang up Nissan in Warwick as no local garages want to know

the actual studs are cheap as chips, I already have the new wheel nuts (thanks Mr Feeny) guess how much plus vat?? to re stud just my back wheels???

250 quid ...

bloody hell

so basically that's just virtually labour *cough*

is this about right or what?

i really want to sort this wheel thing out, as i've had way enough problems

then i can put some lovely 17" wheels back on .... i'll make sure I get a proper mechanic to fit them this time! :xxx:

Please I'm willing to travel can anyone recommend someone who would do it!!!

I've started my Reiki teacher training course which involves me having to drive to London , Manchester and Wales to go to classes and I need this sorted out

Anyone help?

Hi there,

I am going to replace my front wheel bolts soon and I went to my local tyre place and they said that they would do them.

Have you tried any of your local tyre places? Maybe I am just lucky but they didn't seem to have a problem with changing the studs at all.

If I could be arsed I would do them myself as I believe they just knock out.

This is easy and won't take long at all! I know me and Stu did his fronts in a couple of hours, prob less actually. Can't see the rears being any harder, easier if anything I would've thought. Let me just look on the map to see how far Warwick is........

  Bloody hell! They really don't want your business do they?!?! I had the same rear wheel stud problem recently (scarrey huh?) Same as you I got a great deal from the ever helpful Mike Feeney at MJP. I got my mechanic to change them all, as well as doing an oil/filter change AND changed my knackered old front suspension bushes to nice new poly ones.......£60.00 labour :hyper: :hyper:  Shop around!

Dead easy

just knock the old ones out. put the new one in place and put a load of washers on it then tighten the wheel nut onto the washers and it will pull the new stud into the hole.

Paul

THe front ones are easier than the rears, I think you need to take the handbrake shoes out to get the studs out of the rear. The front you can do without much dissassembly and probably without even taking the disc off.

you can do the rears without removing the handbrake shoes, I was hamfisted enough to burst a stud.

All four corners should take no more than an hour and a half, having just changed elongated for standard on my TT

I was thinking that you'd have to remove the hub as it didn't look like there was enough clearance to get the studs out. From what you guys are saying it is possible, excellent stuff! :hyper:

Didn't want to have to fit a new wheel bearing kit!
