So what Exhaust Gaskets can be used on the Zed? I mean do you have to go and actually get the correct one's from the nissan garage, checked around locally and no one stocks them for the ZX, is there a way of cutting the cost corner? Well and the effort corner lol. Get back to me lads/and lasses

Cheers

Cost around £7.50 each so not worth even thinking about not using OEM gaskets... I have seen some places use exhaust putty but this leaks after a while...

Try MJP on 01277374201. Cost me just over a fiver, but make sure you are clear as to which gasket you need as I asked for a front/middle one and got a middle/back one. Turns out my exhaust is blowing from the engine end so big bucks there then :( :(

Front/middle and middle/back are the same gasket  Maybe you go the one from the downpipe to the cat pipe???

From what I and me mate (who fits exhausts for a living!) could see, the one i wanted was a three-flange but the one i got in the post was a two-flange. hmm...?!??

Yeah you needed the downpipe to cat pipe gasket NOT the front/middle ;)

just replaced mine whilst replacing a centre section and bought Nissan Bluebird gaskets. They are about half the thickness so I used 2 per pipe - cost about £1.02 each from Exhausts Unlimited... And the lady who served me appologised for the price...

Good luck

Jack

Thanks for all the info lads, it seem like there is a blow as it was kinda, rattling/tinkering when putting power on, at first it sounded like a rattle under the Cats and between the heat plates, after taking the heat plates off and it was still doing it it hads been decided it is very likely a leak. I heard about a guy who used outty on his car down the road jus an MR2 and it was usless! lol.The gasket needed is the downpipe toCat im guessing too. Cheers once again Lads / Lasses? lol

thx for that andy - how much of a job is it to replace?

Good question! Depends on the condition of the bolts tbh. If they don't shear as you undo them, it could be as little as a 30 minute job. However, most of the time they do shear and you have to drill out the remaining stud and replace with a nut and bolt - great  If you do have to drill them out you can add at least an hour to the job...
