I am told by a reliable source that if I hold the footbrake and accelerate until the rear wheels start to slip - then off the brake and boot it, it is possible to do a fairly impressive standing burnout in my auto :hyper: ? having tried it last night i have to say the results are v impressive   very starsky and hutch

what I want to know is is this gonna cause undue damage other than a bit of pad wear -until the wheels start spinning and some rubber loss??

if it isnt the best way then what is in an auto (apart from fitting a line lock which I am thinking about)

cheers

holding the footbrake and flooring it isnt exactly good news for the autobox lol, but i'm guessing tooley is the expert to ask on this subject, but then iirc he blew up his autobox so maybe not :p

I wouldnt.....Not unless you want to bust it anyway. Its not designed for that kind of abuse.

Will this not fVck the torque convertor?....

Yes you will bust the transmission if you treat it like that. Normal wheel spin is fine, but dont hold the car still while accelerating on a regular basis, its not normal useage and you WILL need a new transmission.

liam

gearbox only just holds together on normal driving

dont do anythink silly in it mate

there will be tears before bedtime

ok ok calm down every one I aint about to go out every day and burn rubber... I am talking about once in a while. so the general consensus is line lock then??

LMFAO! Nice thread :-)

I wouldnt do that to my Z ever but i like to see others doin it!

It should be ok for a while if you only do it once every few days, its much like doing a stall test .

I discovered the brake/accelerate thing an played now an then (every couple of weeks or so!). Now I only have 1st and 3rd !

It would of also helped if I uprated my jap spec auto tranny cooler.

Never had so much fun showing off though, leaving nice tram lines up the road

Manual conversion it is then :D
