had my first scary moment in the zed on saturday

was just out for a cruise, pulled away from some lights and followed the road on a very slight right hander. it was completly dry day and th back end just swiped out, lost control of th bugger and ended up sliding backwards across two lanes on the opposite side of the road.

thank god there were no cars on the other side (suprising for a usually busy junction). i just remember lookin out th passenger window watching th kerb get closer and closer, praying for th car to stop.

i just drove off in th opposit direction as tho nuthin happened and got a lot of funny looks, god am lucky. had a coupla mates in th car who cdnt stop swearin at me after thyd stop laughing ther heads off, *******s.

lol honestly i dint know how to react, i just thot fukin hell am lucky, lets get out of here

LOL, Glad everything is OK fella!!

It's a bit quicker than yer 309 mate

Rich:)

done this myself m8 (just decided to push car around corner for the sake of it)

I was always a bit dubious about buying a RWD car cos of this, ended up on pavement across the carriagway with a dumbstruck face!

no damage on mine but must have been a fast slide (about 50MPH) as when i went into garage day after my tyres were flat, and ended up getting both off side tyres sealed to rims again (beading)

It was funny at time but I have never felt the urge to do it again!

class !

never had any dodgy moments in the zed but i remember when i borrowed a mini years ago off a mate i was approaching the brow of a hill tanking it abit and as i reached the top there was queing traffic the other side, slams the breaks on and just slid in the wet somehow manage to steer onto the pavement luckily on a drop down bit, and carried on sliding past 3 cars waiting in the queue, just watching them as i went past, got some funny looks, then just indicated and pulled back on the road as tho it was normal.

I remember cutting a corner on a B road at about 85 in a Citroen but someone came around the corner towards me over the white line so I swerved to miss him, got round the corner sideways and fought the back end about four times - one way then the other across both lanes and eventually ended up in reverse with all 4 wheels locked until I came to a standstill. I remember heading towards a huge rockface sideways (partly on the grass) thinking I was definately going to die but somehow it gripped again. It slowed me down after that! But then I bought a Zed!!

we've all been there in the Z - what sort of expression do you put on your face when you know people are watching you after you slipped the back end out. I do a kind of nervous/satisfied smile as if I'd done it deliberately, then just get out of there as fast as I can!

You forgot to mention that at the time your foot was planted on the floor! as you do;)

and you didnt think to lift it off when the world started going in another direction to the one you wanted!

Touch wood, havent lost the back end once in my Zed, probably cus I never drive it but thats by the by....:)

lol iv always done that before, but when th car suddenly gets grip it shakes u all over th place and u dnt now exactly which direction ur gonne go in. i read on here that it wasnt a good idea to lift off th gas and that u should drive thru it, woulda probly turned out to be a great drift if id also thot of reverse locking the steering doh!

Second day I got my Z (god thats over three years ago) My good Lady said we needed some milk. I volunteered to go and desided to go the long way via Whitchurch, Welshamton and Ellsemere. I was bobbing on a bit down the A41 and came up very quickley behind a ford Probe. I thought as he exits the next bend I'll nail it and fly past him. "I'll show him what a proper sports car performs like". At the choosen moment I nailed it and went piroeting down the A41 in a cloud of tyre smoke at about 50+ mph. I didn't come to a hate but just straightend up pointing in the right direction and still doing about 30mph. Not wanting to look like a complete ham shanker :xxx: I quickley caught and past the probe then pulled of at the first oppertunaty and smoked several fags until my leg stopped shaking.

I have never been caught out since. So I know how you feel Ya5een. Not recomended while in your cheenos :nono: ;)

Yup, done that also in the early days of Z ownership! Lost the back end accelerating up a slip road onto the dual carriageway and fishtailed across two lanes. Finally managed to correct it at about 90mph LOL! and zoomed off. No one got near me or tried to overtake after that! It taught me a valuable lesson.......don't leave the cheap shit concrete Jap tyres on!! :slap:
