I had my exhaust fitted to the Zed and collected it on friday morning!

Its from the down pipes, straight through to the tailpipes, no silencers or cats!

The car had been driving well yesterday until this morning until this happened!

Everything seemed fine but all of a sudden on the way to my mechanics to fix a squeaky belt (was told later it was the viscous) this morning, i started the car after a quick dash to the cash point.

I heard a rather loud whining noise which faded away after 20 secs of driving BUT the car was hesitating and idleing very badly!

My mechanic who was not able to book it in as i was only booked in for a squeaky belt to be fixed sent me back but on my way home it got really bad and the car was going bonkers with the revs dropping to cut out point and then shooting up to 2000 rpm!

The exhaust doesint sound to well aswell after this happened!

Can anyone shed some light on what has happened to my car!

The engine doesint sound good when its at idle it sounds very unhappy!

HELP ANYONE PLEASE!

On the way home i gave it a bit of welly and it seemed fine and i cant see loads of blue smoke coming out the back! So it cant be the turbos, or can it!!!

The whine sounded like it was belt related!

It was different to the squeaky sound the belts made when i start it the zed up! But it went away after about 30 secs of driving!

viscous fan mate open bonnet with engine running pull on throttle cable and listen if u hear a whining from the front of the car near the fan theres a possibility its the viscous fan coupling, ive got a whinning noise from there fitting a coupling in the week try that ;) cheerz greg

when my idle was all over the place it was the tps connector in need of a bit of a clean, you could have 2 probs here, a squeaky belt, and a dodgy tps connection

Where would i find the tps connector!

The viscous is the thing that squeaks for about 10 secs everytime i start the car up!

This is the first time i heard the whine when i started her up but it faded away as i drove her after about 30 secs!

The car feels hesitant when pulling away and feels really sluggish!

if you have no cats or boxes on the zed you might have a rat gone up the pipes and into your engine mate lol. :x:

you could have a huge vacuum leak I guess, that would cause the idle to hunt all over the place and lumpy running. How's your vacuum at idle? Might be worth checking for any hoses that may have come off.

To be honest guys i dont really like to touch the Zed when it comes to the engine, iv finally got my mechanic to give me an earlier date which is tuesday following! So these ideas i will pass on to him and lets hope he can fix it quick!

The only problem being i was supposed to drop the car off to the bodyshop on monday and its gonna be delayed by over a week because of this crap that has happened!

Fas - do reset ECU disconnect battery for 30 minutes - reconnect it then it will settle down if it's not a TPS problem.

Geoff.

lol i dont think that the rat up pipe is the main problem, hopefully you get it sorted, keep us updated mate
