Hi guys,

My beloved Z has not been used for a while, it has been sat around me parents tucked out of the way whilst im saving to get it sorted, after deciding not to break it.

Problem 1, the battery has gone dead, not bad in itself BUT;

PROBLEM 2, I have completly covered filled and covered locks in doors with metal and filler, PROBLEM 3, I have fitted a tailgate skin and the lock is no longer in the boot,

PROBLEM 4, my Z is now an ornament as it can not be used. Short of taking a hammer to the targa and replacing it or window I don't know what to do,

So if anyone knows how i can effectively break into my Z much appreciated, due to the sensitive nature of this thread obviously I don't want ppl posting this info up on the thread!!!!! so e-mail or call me on 07734-701388.

If anyone knows a way I can access the bonnet catch or something by taking front bumper off, all I need to do is get the bonnet up and the bat out to charge it then I can get back in my car?

Cheers

Steve

this might sound daft but would

conecting a battery to say the side repeater loom

put power into car

dont all laugh im sure i read this somewhere.

What about jacking the car up, and try to attachached a jump lead to the back of the starter motor?? As long as the negative touches the chassis, it should be enough just to pop the door locks.

No idea mate im no electrician but it sounds a bit of a special idea!

Any more incite into this would would be appreciated, IF/When i get back in my car, I think i'm gonna work out how the bonnet catch works and fit another wire to it that goes behined one of the side lights, so if it happens again 2 screws, sidelight oput and pull it to pop bonnet hey presto!!

I also thought of calling AA out, but my insurance is with them and there are a few, non-factory adjustments to the car if you know what i mean lol.

Thx

Steve

that sounds like a good idea from Shunter. The main wire comes directly from the + battery. You also have a mail.

yeh i mean i got a toad ai606 on it that does the remote locking part of it so it would have to power that and give me time to use imobiliser,

This is some coincidence, and I have no wish to hijack your thread so I'll start my own!! :D

Simon.

yup, as shunter says, jump leads to battery +ve on starter, then earth lead to engine/gearbox casing.

done it before myself! :)

Sweet thanks lads, cheers for email v-jay if the other dont work i'll give that a go.

Now just so I don't fry the electrics on the car (I am a bit crap with electrics) could anyone do me a massive favour and describe where exactly i touch another batt to on the starter / chasis,

Cheers

here you go - http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=el&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=20&design=default&total=133

The second and third picture, the wire that says "from battey" is the + and you can put the - on any earth point (make sure it's clean). As said above use jump leads and be careful that the + clamp doesn't earth :)

Vijay

Okay Vijay ( wizard ) now sort mine out. :) PLEASE!

Simon.

Steve the best way to do this is connect the jump leads to the two points on the car first. Then the negative terminal onthe battery, and the final connection to the positive. this should allow you to get the positive lead attached on the starter safely while it's not carrying any juice.

Good luck,

Simon.

Simon,

I'm baffled on your one mate :( My only advice would be to call Bob (Safe and sound in the traders section), if anyone will know he would.

shame your not in my area as im a locksmith and wouid be able to get in with out the need of keys etc, hope u got in ok though

I'll start pushing!! :D :D :) :) :( :(

ahh sorry mate ishouid of kept my mouth shut,

1/try this pull back the seal across the window, use a door wedge and directly above handle&lock assembly use a microlite/or a light that gives of a thin ray of light make a tool out of a metal coat hanger long enough to reach the horizontal rod assembly, make a hook at the end of the hanger to bind on the rod, twist and slide the makeshift tool, this shouid then independantly unlock that door use passenger door.Ihope i dont get in trouble for this!

2/through door style,if you can wedge the door open enough reach in for the handle might be difficult without an air wedge but a possability

by the way this doesent work on all cars so dont be tempted to try this on a porsche etc  most cars haved there own methods of entry

Don't worry Greg, just feeling sorry for myself.

Just spent £1k sorting the gearbox, halfway through a head unit install, - everything hanging out the dash, - and I can't get in and finish it! My wife's hiding the bricks, although she wants me to get rid of the thing, and I hate to say it but right now I'm almost tempted. Lets hope sleeping on it will help. Has to bl**dy happen on a bank holiday though.

ive only had the z a couple of months m8 and i get my days when i dont want her, dreading an expensive bill everytime i go out in it.But its worth keeping coz i enjoy driving it.Hang on to it coz if uv just forked out for the gearbox u may as well get plenty of use out of it good luck, besides half of my car is in bits due to a retrim bo**ocks :(

Well guys, I'm in. Managed to fiddle it, but I am still unable to do anything with the driver's door. Lock works manually on the passenger one but not at all on the driver's side. Does this sound like a mechanical problem in the door, as there seems to be an attempt by the hands free to open it (it makes a sound in the door and clunks)?

If so any ideas how I go about this, as I am not able to open the door to remove the door card. Oh and it's p1ssing down!!

Simon.

you know the plastic ribbing that runs along the base of the windscreen wipers, on the passenger side (above the battery) mine is missing and I can see the battery terminals. Dunno if you can unscrew it without the bonnet up but would rather break that than glass! Maybe its possible to get some jump leads through to get power to the battery...as though jump starting.

the reason your drivers door has problems is if your battery aint charged then this will effect the central locking which is situated in the drivers door hence only passenger door will work manually :)

Do you know anything about the cat converter light on the dash if it comes on is the cat had it or has it just got to hot
