Well he will have a 3Mb which means max downloads of 384Kbs

Is it available nationwide, and what do they charge? I'm currently with a company that is somewhat temperamental, so would be interested in a change.

Its telewest. If you can get cable TV you can get blueyonder broadband. TBH, I have never really had any trouble with them. About 3 years ago when we first got it it kept going down for periods, but I can say its been nearly flawless for 2 years. Only Email server is slow every now and then. No biggie

yep Im with them on a 2Mb connection - cant fault them

Jay try downloading something and tell me if its speeded up now.

I have downloaded a few things and hangs around the 170kbs mark for quite a while and then drops.

there are a few proviso's (ie set-top-box users excluded)

also looks like ntl is following suit, and bt are in the process of doing some upgrades, but no firm details yet

the changes will not be available for most until the end of may

Telewest's ISP, Blueyonder, has confirmed that by the end of May, customers subscribing to its 512kbps, 1Mbps and 2Mbps will receive a 50% downstream speed increase at no extra charge.

The 512kbps service will become 768kbps downstream, the 1Mbps service tier will go to 1.5Mbps (for customers using a standalone cable modem only - "technical issues" prevent set-top-box customers from receiving the upgrade, according to Telewest), and the 2Mbps service will become 3Mbps downstream.

Upstream speeds and the 256kbps entry-level downstream service are unaffected by the changes.

The speed upgrade will be gradually rolled out across Telewest's service area, with details being posted to a rollout page as they become available.

Cheers gents. I'm not in the area yet, but they say it's on the cards sometime..............I'm not going to hold my breath as this seems to be another cable operators territory. :x:
