Forget the rest, pay the extra and get a KENWOOD KRC-791 with a KDC-C717 10 disc multi-changer. After you turn-off the power to the head unit it mechanically flips over and all anyone will see is a blank panel....PERFECT!!

And it sounds bloody good too...You won't be disappointed. :)

Cheers

Why are we LOOKING at AUDIO systems, fer gossake?!

[boyd mode is now off...]

The Pioneer P77 is one of the best quality head units available - thats why I got it. 6 volt pre-outs and Burr Brown D/A convertors, as well as MP3 and WMA playback. Several of my friends enter sound - offs, and know a bit about stereos, and as I was after quality thats what they recomended. JL components and a JL amp to run them helps too. (But I should have spent the money on making the car faster......)

Carpfisher, not fitted it yet, just got my car back having sh4gged the gearbox. I paid £221 for it.

Hope this helps,

Simon.

For sound quality either go for Alpine or Panasonic. Also sony are the biggest pile of shite going build quality wise.

I cant fault sony for build quality, ive had my active black thingy anout 3 years and its only broke once which was my own fault.

Im considering a CDXM100TF next but im a bit weary of paying nearly £400 notes for a 2003 model, so might wait for a new version.

Agree about panasonic, i reckon you get alot for your money with them, trying to find one thats not blue and silver isnt easy though.

Still think alpines look like daleks!!!

Interesting to see so many Sony units recomended.

I cant be doing too bad then, as mine is also a Sony, a XR-M510 RDS Cassette head unit coupled to a CDX-656 10 disc CD Multi-Changer in the boot. Pics below, as you can see when it is closed, there are no buttons to be seen, only flashing lights. Brightness is adjustable, as is whatever you want to be displayed. Also comes with a remote, for when the unit is closed :D, only cost me £250 all in :D, well impressed with it.

Also got a Sony CD player in my other car:D

Two pics with flash, and two without.

Same as my current one, but mines the single CD.

Dave, cant you block that hole with your old radio?

Nah I like the hole, somewhere to put my Polo's :D afterall, there aint enough space to put anything in the Zed, without loosing more space, lol
