Seen one listed on 'Streetracers.co.uk' or something like that for about £550. Is this a worthwhile change? Has anyone on here got one or are they supreme tat. I don't really WANT one. Just have got fed up of a nice speckled white stone-chipped bonnet and thought that it would be a way round it :) . Maybe a 300 would look very ugly with one. Perhaps respraying the bonnet and then never driving the car again (!!!) would be a better idea.

I have seen somewhere a clear bonnet, looks ace but it must be mate of perspex or something and Ibet looks shite afterits started to get scratches on it. Or maybe turns opaque due to the heat.

I personally think nicely laid up carbon looks the puppies proverbials. I.ve seen some cars (skylines etc...) with these and they look v nice. As with most things though if you think it looks good that's all that matters. Well within reason. Somethings just don't suit the mighty zed, I think this would work though. :cool:

Or is it just show-car-shite? I think they look good on Skylines. But I think maybe it wouldn't suit the car. Maybe on a well-kitted zed they might fit better than on a standard.

wher did you see the bonnet? Was if lat or vented?

Why yes. Or is someone gona say that the weight seaving over a stock Nissan alloy bonnet justifies 4 mars bars worth of mass. Moving one's bowels would save more weight. Just another toy for the person with more cash than sense.

 

Guess I had a good look at one on a Ferrari F40 - you could see the mat weave through the paint. Thought it might be a kit car copy at first but it was the real thing - all carbon fibre and very silly money. Hardly compares tho

I like them as long as they stock replacements and not vented cack, and my car is black, not sure about on anything else though, white perhaps.

The S13 bonnet is steel hence 26Kg, a carbon on 7. Big saving.

 

Here's a carbon NSX, I bet it's light and stiff.

I like it, the carbon/kevlar hybrid splitter is grim though.

 

I certainly wouldn't like to be the third party in the insurance claim against that :x:

And i think carbon bonnets look good on the right colour cars........eg.....Black!!

I think they are crap a kid at work spent loads getting the black trims on his impreza colour coded silver to match the car then he gets rid of a perfect nice shiney silver bonnet and sticks a stupid black carbon one on :confused:

I'm with those people here who express a little class and balanced view. Furthermore I think anyone who puts an unpainted carbon Fibre pannel on there cars should be bluggend to death. Then run over repeatedly placed back in there tack mobile and petrol bombed.

personally I think they looked wicked but only on the right car in the right colour. I think they look good on most sports and big cars they look crap on small cars.

 

I wouldn't mind one but what would the point be as my Z is black and you would not be able to see that easily where that £600 or whatever they cost has gone.

I think it would look neat unpainted on a dark purple car, it depends on the quality of the weave, and it is defiently a statement rather than a performance upgrade.

There must be easier ways of reducing weight, Nelson please advise ;) :rofl:

I've gone on a diet though (to get rid of some of the cholestorol that's oozing out my viens) so maybe in a month or two I'll have got rid of the same weight. ha ha.

 

I think they look OK on highly shiney modded show-mobiles with no expenxe spared on making everything else look 100% too, but otherwise I guess it looks pretty tacky and spoils the look of the car.

 

Back to a bonnet respray and then covering it with cotton wool. Or just not driving it. I suppose that's what comes of doing 12000 miles since I bought it.

I was working at a VW dealer at the time, the stupid thing was, we never ordered or sold any until VW gave every dealer a compulsory quantity to sell, feck we thought - never gonna shift those. we sold all 3 in a week :rofl:
