I have spent a few hours looking through the various replies and suggestions, not all of them smart, but none the less answers, and wonder do I remove the cats or not???? If I remove them do I put in a straight throo pipe as a replacement, or put in an other sort of silencer, will it do detrimental harm to the turbo`s, would I be better removing the back boxes instead, or what ???

It is an 89 t/t and pretty bog standard(ish).

general opinion is decatting = more power, more noise & more chance of blowing the rear turbo oil seal.

I'm getting my silencer from C+C Exhausts in Hillington on Tuesday who are fitting the tailpipe and tidying up the silencer they made for me. I was gonna gut the cats cut i am having 2nd thoughts when i hear about smoke and turbo's failing, but the noise factor also comes into it i guess. I cant wait to have the single exit system built.

Just had mine decatted and its awesome:D I had a single exit cat back before but now it sounds 10 times louder and pulls way better. No sign of turbo smoke yet but im not a hard driver, fingers X'ed they'll be ok! More than likely the seals will go on higher milage cars and ones that have been thrashed, but I dunno.

well i still got the cat on mine but have a single exit HKS super dragger and it just sounds brilliant but need to turn up the hifi on a long journey but that is the only downside of the system :bow:

As yours is a 89 you are legally aloud to say bye bye to that cat but as for the noise the old bill may pull you for this as there is a limit too how loud it is aloud to be. But i'm not too sure how loud it will be.

To cat or not to cat??? well more power, more noise (attention), but also more likely to blow bits, need to have a little spare cash laying around just in case, you know, if something goes BANG...
