I am near the final stages of putting my business together  and the final outlay, although compaired to London prices, my start up costs are negligable but I am taking a risk because the business will be a new one, and not an already established going concern.

However, the analysis and research that I have carried out so far indicates that I should loan enough money to allow me to live on, pay and run the business before I can expect any profit back for atleast 4 months.  Probably opt for 6 months just be be on the safe side.

So the question is, do I use the Z as a promotional car and plaster it in graphics for the business, or do I cut my losses, sell it and wait to see how the business goes and buy another one later?

I know ultimately the decision will be down to numbers but I don't know whether to keep it and ride the waves and hope I come out the other end victorious, or whether to sell and play it safe. i.e. minimum expenses/greater control/lesser risk!

The answer is so obvious but it is so hard to let go!

Cos, good luck in what ever you decide mate, but you are the only one who can make that decision :(

Was up at Jeffs testerday and saw some of your shinny's mate and would love to know prices on Head lights, balance Bar for manual, and bonnet stay mate:D if you have any up and running could you send me a PM with prices mate..;)

Cheers Matt...Sgt C :hyper:

Cheers mate - I know, it's so hard to decide. I am also in the process of buying the Mrs a replacement car so I will have more to contemplate.

As for the headlights, just go to the link at the bottom of my sig for all the details. There are a few people currently waiting for their's so there is a bit of a wait because the suppliers give their bulk orders priority so I have to come second unfortunately, but as soon as I know more, I will definately let you know.

As for the chroming of the BB and BS, I don't officially do them, because Danny already does chroming and that kind of thing. However, if he doesn't do BBs and BSs, and doesn't mind me doing them, I would be more than happy to get them sorted for you.

Cheers

I was going to ask fella, is that an auto balance bar at Jeff's??

And who do those lights belong too ;)

Matty.

Yes and Jeff.

Look Cos I know you don't really know me, but i've been running my own business for the last 8 years and I'm doing OK. ( shit if I survive this year I'll be rich) Having survived the usual and normal pitfalls that most new business makes. So If you need any advice or any thing to help you just give me a PM. Good look mate what ever your doing. Planning and Sales promotion are the key to success. Coupled to the fact that none of what you make is yours, only what the Tax man says. (here's where I might be of invaluable help) You have my respect for trying it any way.

been doing my own business for 3 years now, even when its bad its better than working for someone else. So true about the money. If you donrt seperate your money from the companies money, it will go the way of the pear. Best of luck mate and lkike mark, any help I can give.

To all the guys with their own companies, would it be an idea to start a thread on what you do/supply incase any forum members can/want to put business your way :)

Vijay

So you are leaving you know who then mate????

Tricky one, but for what its worth, if the zed is relevant to your business, it is prob worth hanging on to (even if you refrain from using/modding it until your cash flow stabilises). I think the opportunity to advertise your goods on a car carries a lot of weight.

Obviously if your business is selling groceries or something you may want to ignore this advice LOL.

Good on you though fella. A big decision, and although it may be difficult in the early stages, get as much advice as you can from the guys here and I'm sure it will help!! Good luck!!!

Rich

using the z as a promotional toole isnt all its cracked up to be....i take it your after mass market appeal and the z really isnt that kind of car...theres so much effitist snobbery with it that most of the young kids or lesser make lads in other cars walk away from them.....at the end of the day if as i think your bread and butter goodies are going to be for saxos/clios etc then the z isnt going to be shifting your goods for you as its such a small market

Yeah, really depends on what your business is as to if the zed will work as a promotional tool. If you do a search on here there was a thread months back about 'the image of a zed driver' (after I had a few comments).

Yeah put some my way - I design one off houses for millionaires, prices start at around £2m for a basic deal.

I've thought about this for ages now - a sticky thread of what we all do. Any work any of us need doing, it would be nice to keep it 'in house'.

So your loaded then  Well you were before you had the Z affliction

I used to have my own Yacht at Monaco and a stable of Ferrari's, Then the Z came into my life and soon my bank account began to drain and I lost it all.

I still think my youngest left the Yacht on Abersoch beach (or how ever you smell ti) and I'm sure the eldest swapped the Ferrari's for an action man. :slap:

So do you design to building regs or just outline design (are you an Architect)

Thanks for all the help guys!

My plan although it may initially sound like a small time business, is to open a hand car wash and valeting service. But I'm not going for the usual empty petrol station arrangement or industrial unit or some car park somewhere. I am looking for a good sized building which has a bit of a car park.

MarkZX, the launch day idea I initially had, and all of you can strike me down if you don't agree, was to get a few models to come down who would be willing to wash cars in wet T-shirts. A very male idea but seeing as sex is the most powerful selling tool, and the majority of drivers are men, and men usually cant be arsed to was their car, I thought I would put it to good use. But then I had second thoughts, and thought it would be better to use the girls for one off promotional days only and make the launch day one where cars can be washed for a £1.

Other ideas I have had are things such as, if drivers arrive before or after a certain time, they get their car washed at half price.

So many ideas to use! but at the moment I am nervous, excited, worried, happy, frustrated and ancxious, but atleast I got my Z back last night after the clutch fix, but that is another story that I will fill everyone in on later on tonight. All I will say for now is, if you are going to buy a RPS street racer clutch, hold on until you read my write-up later on.
