Ok i've just looked at the FAQ on how to install boost jets and even to me it seems like it could be done in an hour but more importantly what price is the chip upgrade and if i decided i wanted to make my engine last longer could i just remove the new jets installed and run with the new chip but without the boost jets?

How much is the chip upgrade????????

Alex,

Without the boost jets or a boost controller there is not much point to having a chip fitted. The chip will only be benificial when you increase the boost level by adding boost jets or a boost controller as it uses different ignition and air/fuel maps to cope with the increased air/fuel requirements of running higher boost. By the way, fitting boost jets takes 5 minutes, its the calibrating afterwards (to ensure you're not over-boosting) that takes the longest.

As for the chip upgrade - send me a PM or call me and I'll see what I can do ... ;)

Cheers mate!

I've still got the adjustable boost jets I took out of my car if you want them (for nowt.) You adjust them by just turning the top... they're a bit like stopcocks with a hole in the side, if you see what I mean.

No warranty expressed or implied!

Like Chris says, installing them is easy - you just put them in the correct vacuum lines. (So you'll need a bit of spare vacuum hose... think it's 6mm.)

However, you need an accurate boost gauge to calibrate them properly, so you'll either need to do it on an RR where they can measure the boost with their gauge, or you'll need to get a boost gauge fitted. I would certainly not recommend running them -without- a gauge fitted!

So the jets for free if you want them but you'll need to splash out on the gauge (and possibly pod for it)...

The stock ECU only has fuel maps for certain amounts of air and has to guess above that point. Obviously if you fit boost jets or a controller you have more air going in, which requires more fuel, which means you need a chip that is expecting to have to put more fuel in to avoid leaning out (and hence detting.) So you don't NEED a chip but it's a bloody good idea. (And they're not cheap either.)

I guess you could fit the boost jets and just run an extra PSI or so... but what's the point?
