When I was driving up the A1 yesterday, i could hear a vibrating noise coming from the rear of the car. Now it was very bad weather so there was plenty of buffeting going on. On investigation this morning I've discovered that I can lift the outter edges of the boot lid

Has anyone had this problem before, and if so how did you cure it? I have got an after market spoiler on, so i assume that may be caurseing it. I'm also considering taking this off and putting the original style one on (fibreglass version)

PS - If anyone is interested in this spoiler, let me know :D but I've no idea when I'll be changing it.

Actually I would be interested in it!

What the hell is it - I've not seen a nice tidy low one like that before!

As for the lifting, which bit is moving - are you sure it's not just a case of adjusting the catch plate for the tailgate?

That's not just a wing that's been fitted there.

The stock spoiler has been removed and a boot skin of some sort has been fitted to fill the huge holes that are left behind.

If you sell the spoiler you won't be able to just stick a stock one back on without major work to the boot...

No, if you look at the top pic ( the one taken looking backwards) you can see a ridge, this is a panel that goes below the 'wing' and covers the holes from the original one. It's a nice designed spoiler and fill panel, and it looks a nice job. If you dont look under the 'wing' then you wouldnt notice the fill panel at all. I like this spoiler as it isnt too high, and I wasnt intending to get rid of it due to the problem mentioned above, I was thinking about it before that.

I'm hoping that when I do change them over, there shouldnt be any problems, as i can se the holes from underneath.

EDIT ** Whoops, forgot to say this bit...... I have no idea what type/make it is, I'm told that it was on the car when it was imported.

also very interested so if you do end up selling it so let me know if you end up wanting to sell it.

Sounds similar to the problem I had with my boot.

You will be pleased to hear that it cost me almost nothing to fix. :) There are 3 screws taht hold the locking mechanism in, the threads had stripped off of them. Replace them, adjust the mechanism and away you go. :D

Hopefully thats all thats wrong. Shouldnt need to replace your spoiler for that! ;)

Thanks, i'll put it on the list of things to do ;) I'm changing it because I like the original spoiler and perspex panel, I have been toying with this idea for a while.

You don't have to have a boot skin to cover the original spoiler fixing holes. You can plate them from below and fill them, leaving very clean lines. ALtrnatively, you can have the front edge of the tailskin feathered out with filler to give a smoother line.

Anyway - if you do go ahead with the spoiler replacement - I think I had first refusal???? - I can arrange collection from Grantham too, saving you the hassle of trying to post it!
