Hope you can help here and please be honest as I am looking for an opinion from you guys as to the ammount you WOULD pay for a vehicle the same as mine was previous to the crash.

Imagine this was the advert:

1994 300zx twin turbo auto in red, charcoal leather, all electric heated seats, original sound system. This is a clompletely standard uk car with dealer history up to 38,000 miles and full documented history (in original service book) up to present 104,000 miles, this includes cambelt change at 54,000 miles by nissan. Full service at 98,000 miles. Mobil 1 used since 43,000 miles. No Known major repairs ie gearbox etc. New brake pads all around 25% wear on tyres, recent refurbished wheels. Interior in A1 condition apart from slight wear on drivers seat (and I mean slight). This car is viewed as mint by many people although it would not cost a great amount to make it concorse.

The question is how much would you pay for this?

I understand that this is not every ones cuppa to have a stock car but please just go on the value you would put on it.

If you are not aware, this car has been written off and I have been offered 5000 pounds and have rejected this and I am now waiting for a re-assesment

having put my case forward that I can not replace it for that ammount.

I am looking for responses that I can print off and send to the insurance if needs be.

Hope you can help ...............cheers

Unlucky ady, gotta be worth more than that?

Have a look @ http://www.japcity.com this is where i got mine,

it's still on his lists, but no price as it's sold.....to me :hyper:

But.....i can tell you that he originally wanted £7k for it!

I got it for £6250. & it's a 1990 model!

I know it's a rare colour, with fsh & low miles (km's), but

as you say yours is in mint condition, with average miles

for the age. So therefore should be worth around the same

as mine? & it's newer!

But on the flip side, there are some very cheap examples in

the Auto Trader lately, but who's to say that they are

any good, i looked @ 3 before i got mine, there are some

right piles of sh*t out there, & yours sounds like a good

one......or it did! :x:

Hi Ady

I am going to make a sweeping statement that many other members may ridicule  but......

.......looking on Autotrader's website in the last month or so I have seen 2 clean UK spec cars (that's UK spec before everyone gets excited and says I'm talking bo11ox coz Zeds are cheap etc etc at the minute) with approx 65-80K miles going for £6995 and £8495. IIRC one was a 1992 and the other a 1994. Both from traders.

Doesn't mean the daler would get that, of course.....

Good UK cars are now very few and far between so later models or lower mileage examples are fetching a premium, it would seem. And some people would rather pay for such a car with a known full history than buy a cheaper import, where the full story is sketchy.

Hold out for around £6-6500 ish and try to find a similar car for sale to show the insurance co what a replacement would cost.

All the best with your claim, mate

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ady, I would expect to pay in the region of £7,000 (private) or £8000 (trade) for this age UK car in the condition you describe. They are extremely rare and very seldom seen up for sale. As mentioned in another thread I have an agreed value of £9,000 (full loss) on my non-stock '93 UK with my current insurance company. I would be happy to provide you with copies of documentation to substantiate this if you require it.

All the best

Steve

SO how much would my UK TT Auto with 80k on the clock fetch with FSH and loads of new bits added???

Not that I'd sell for less than £50k of course......:D

I have noticed lately that UK Z's seem to be fetching a premium from dealers.

Matty.

How close is this to becoming an officially recognised club? Many other clubs can send evaluations to insurers saying how much they think the car is worth.

Maybe it is worth some one writting a letter for him on some official headed paper, see if it swings anything his way.

Thanks for the response.

Replying to your suggestions .............

I have included examples of 4 other Zds "for sale" in my rejection to the offer from the insurance company, none of which match the description of my car.

I didn't really want to print this but what the hell, I viewed one that was a 94 and described as pristine condition.............here are a list of the faults I found in 45 mins:-

odd front tyres, rear tyres on the limit, completely worn brake shoes ALL round (dangerously low). Faulty oil gauge sender, faulty boost meter, No alarm keyfob.

Air con needed rechargeing poor proof of service history.

Fairly worn interior for 98000 miles.

Now for the real turn off badly repaired rear bumper, almost all the car had been repainted, rust spot on 1 door sill and bits of dust in the new paintwork. The door handles weren't refitted correctly after the paintwork and some of the masking was done by someone who was either drunk or blind (nothing against the blind)

I am getting bored now as the list could go on, but he was asking 5,300 pounds.

I would not have even paid 3,300 as I was not happy about the whole thing

.................something was not right

Cheers

Ady
