I know the prices for mods and spares for our 300's are stupidly pricey, but is it worse for skylines?

I would expect it would be....

Featured Replies

you'd be suprised as its newer and has more models parts are cheaper and more reliable and more readily available

I think they parts for them are even worse, lets consider there are not as many Skylines, there are R32 R33 and R34 each with Na and Turbo, GTS, GTT, GTR, VSpec VspecII not to mention the special editions.

Some bits can be picked up very cheap on gtroc as them guys have money to burn!!

Give you examples of what i`ve bought for mine to compare prices.

How can you say its more reliable?

You cant compaire the reliablility of a 14 year old car and a 4 year old car.

Stu,the Skyline is older than the Z32;)

R34 only came out in 1999 I think.

R33 came out in 1996/1997.

R32 came out in 1990. They are all imports and thus very low milage compaired to what ones in the UK would have on.

I think it is fair to say we are not talking about the old Skyline GTR and if we are talking about that the first Zs came out in 1969 if I remember correctly and I have seen a hell a lot more of those than 1978 Skylines, which shows more proof of reliability. If you want to go even further, the original Fairlady's where out way before the 240Z

I also said that the R32 was not availible in this country. That is why I said it after the R32 comment. I didnt say the R33 or R34 where all imports.

Why is ebay so shitty for Z's? My mate has a 450+bhp Supra and nearly all the tuning bits came from ebay. For next to nuthing!

What do we get? Z ash trays, Z cushions, Z baseball hats. Nice!

Yeah, but then you'd have to drive around in a Supra! :(

hmmmm,

had a post deleted. There was nothing offensive on there, so why was it?

New mods flexing their new virtual muscles? ;)

or maybe they just don't like what you were saying

Bob. Your cams are in mate. Skylines pound for pound are a far better bet than the 300 I have to say. More tuneable which means for the money you would put into one the power return you get back far outstrips the Z. I am not having a pop at the Z as I have owned one myself. The car cost me 28 grand before I even started to mod the thing. When I see what Z owners spend on there motors though I have to say they are one of the most active bunch of tuners. Bob`s Skyline is a good case in point. You just not going to get car which will out perform his Skyline with the kind of money he spent. Bottom line just enjoy your car for what it is. The Z is still the best performance tourer I have driven. The car eats the miles up in comfort. Got to say no other car can match that.

Bob how easy is it to order from this company in japan compared to say the U.S, how does the VAT and import tax etc? and how about postage? Sorry to hijack:D

Alot of the Skyline guys order from here, Skylines aren`t available in the US apart from imports so parts aren`t available. I have ordered from Japan and the US when i had me ZX and nothing between them. Email Jason at Greenline, very helpful. Only downside is payment can only be done through Paypal at the moment for some reason. Shipping takes about 7 days and can dodge VAT etc when wrapped as a sample!!

Heavy stuff is expensive to ship, just cost me £150 for a clutch and fitting kit but still saved overall.

Bob

Just wish we had some places over here that stocked that range of gear, keep dreaming I guess!:(
