Yes, it's the metal box bolted to the floor in the footwell, usually under a bit of plywood (!)

If you're taking it out you'll need to undo the screws and be careful removing the big cable connector.

Thanks guys, appreciate that........................ I did do some checking though before I posted this question, but according to the on-line service manual, there are only three units down there......HICAS Control Unit, A/T Control Unit and A.S.C.D. Control Unit........... But then that is the UK/Europe manual i supose. Or is the A.S.C.D. another name for the ECU?

See I'm not always that cleaver when it comes to some of the technical stuff :D, but everyone to their own. And I'll always help where I can :D

Again thanks

is that what that think is i was pullin about to fit my speaker cables DOH.

Hope everythink still work.So if thats it,it's so easy to get to so would i be able to fit a jwt ECU if it's simple to get to?

Is it just a case of pluggin the new one in?

Swapping chips is unbelievably easy once the ecu board is socketted to take interchangeable chips. If it's still stock then the stock chip is soldered in, this needs to be unsoldered and replaced with a socket to take other chips. Easy enough but not for the feinthearted DIY solderer!

no idea at all, i just saw it, i was always under the impression Jwt was a replacement ecu rather than socket?

was i wrong?

I think people socket them in case they are thinking of replacing it again in the future instead of soldering it direcctly into to board

My job is in electronics (14yrs), is the ECU chip a 28pin EPROM ?

Yes
