re calibrating the dials

Anyone know if you can get all the dials recalibrated ?.

I need the get the fuel, tacho & water temp sorted , they don 't seem to be working too well since I fitted the new dials.

tell you what, we can split a new set ok UK clocks, I'll take the speedo and you take the rest if we can't sort it !! :D

did you fit new gauge fronts or a new set of dials complete?

if you have a common problem to the gauges that are not working now and were working previoulsy then it isnt a calibration issue , more like a bad earth or poor connection somewhere causing the problem , for instruments to suddenly go out of calibration is normally due to excess of calibrated range parameters or other sudden excessive input changes ( high / low voltage , current , resistance ) go over what you did on the gauge change and double check all connections , checking for "crimped" wires or split insulation or loose terminations etc etc good luck

Question: I've fitted a UK dial cluster to my jap import, everything works fine but the speedo takes a while to start moving. once it gets going its all perfect till next time I use the car.

Anyone else had this issue or know whats causing it?

cheers Guys

Usually a dry joint on the speedo circuit board, run some fresh solder over the existing tracks should sort the problem of an intermittent or lazy speedo.

If that has been done and not sured the problem then the next part to look at is the speedo sensor in the gearbox and check the wires to it.

The fuel gauge works on a real time signal from the fuel sender in the tank, it doesnt matter what point you put the needle in the gauge , it will revert to the real level in the tank

The speedo will be the only clock that you can calibrate iirc.

If you have taken the needles off to fit new faces, that can be a problem if not replaced at exactly the same point

thanks for that advise will look at it shortly. when you say run fresh solder over the existing tracks on the speedo circuit board do you mean the one directly behind the speedo or the circitry on the back of the cluster?

again cheers
