Can anyone help me ?

 

I am at my wits end with my f'ing speedo. It works and dies on a completely arbitrary basis. The problem is every time the car is in for a service it's working and they can't find a problem - and then just as I get the damn thing home it stops working !!!

 

I've noticed that if the first manouver in the morning is reversing (out of the garage for example) then it kills it but even then that isn't necessarily consistent.

 

And of course when the speedo dies then very often so does the power steering - but not always :confused:

Speed sensor is fecked or it could be the MPH converter if it has one.

Ok so where is they both and are they easy to sort ?

Speed converter is a little box behind the dash. Only imports have them on with this problem on imports, 90% of the time its the speed converter.

 

The speed sensor is on the gearbox.
