Hello,

Just started to retrim the tweed panels with vinyl, i have just finished the arm rest (lid) as this is the easiest bit to remove and am now going to start the rest. Is there any site of details of how to remove the other panels as i dont want to try it and break anything with out someones knowledge.

Thanks

Ant.

Really pleased as managed to get 350 miles out of a full tank :p instead of the usual 200

Excellent thanks both,

Thats the door cards sorted anyone help with the bits running along the centre panel and the glove box or am i just being stupid and this is simple???

Thanks again :D

On the upper rear quarter panels (triangular, over the small rear windows) there is a forked tab on each side near the back. You can't see it but it is screwed down and if you just pull you will break the tabs off. I'm not sure how to get these off without removing all the panels right back to the middle of the boot.

How on earth did you get 350 miles out of a full tank!! Was it on a low loader for a hundred of them????

Rob I have a gunmetal grey TT so I have gone for a grey vinyl so far so good and looks the biz, i'll hopefully put up some pics tomorrow so far only done the armrest and glovebox as these are the easiest to remove. I just bought 2 metres of vinyl from a shop in Romford for £6.50 a metre and some spray vinyl adhesive from B&Q.

CC300ZX: Managed the 350 miles as I went away for the weekend so it was a 250 mile round trip on the motorways cruising at approx 80mph I was really chuffed. Cant believe it myself. :D

glovebox?? easy?? am in the middle of doing thiss too and th glove box was a PITA to get out, you have to take off so many other things first

iv only got th rear quarters and doors to do now

I only removed the bottom tray 4 push in plastice thingys!! then undone the 2 bolts at the bottom and a little twist and out it came!!

How did you remove the side panels that run along the cenre console?? going to attempt them tomorrow.

you need to get the center unit (stereo surround) off first, there are two screws hidden behind clips in top corners by the vents and two hidden behind the strip in the middle, then it just clips out

pull out the ashtray, pull up th lining to the centre console and undo all th screws to get that whole section off, mines an auto so got gear surround that comes off as well but cant remember which is first

then the just unscrew the triangle side panels (i had to do all that before i could get the glove box off, probly just dint think bout it, oh well it all had to come out soner or later)

the little panels on the side of the centre console are screwed in from the underside so you have to take the whole thing out to get to them, hope it all makes sense

p.s. the rear quarters are a nightmare! and 2 meters defo aint enough iv tried about 5 differnt glues and th best is EVOSTICK IMPACT solvent free, comes in a small red tin from B&Q. also get pleeeeeenty of superglue for sticking the edges down at the back (been thru 6 tubes already) absolutly essential tho

Good luck - it's not difficult to discover the fixings - just take your time and you'll be ok. But why a grey interior - isn't that a bit boring??? But I suppose each to their own. lol.

antf hows the job getting along?

Its going alright almost gave up yesterday, i have done all the console panels and dash panels (glovebox, under wheel) which seem to have gone well looks 100% better. But attempted the passenger door what a b@gger to get the old trim off and to make matters worse i ran out of glue so i used another can that i bought but werent to keen on now i know why thing wouldnt stick anything apart from my bloody fingers!!! Got some glue today evo stick impact - excellent top of the door a bit messy so i am going to get some white piping tomorrow to run round the top which will hide the mistakes and hopefully look nice.

thanks again for all your help, ill hopfully take some pics tomorrow once i finish the drivers door.

Getting there

Cheers almost done, really pleased just hope it holds.

You'll be suprised how nice it looks, i didnt think any other colour would go as i still have the original cloth seats, its not plain grey its got like leathery print to it so its light and dark if you get what i mean :D

it does take alot longer than you expect it to but that evostik impact is th biz, just make sure u let it dry before putting them together, bout half n hour is perfect

iv done everything apart from th doors, think il do those sometime this week

have u done ur rear quarters? they were a f-ing PITA but got ther in th end

does anyone know if you can get like a protection cream or something cos the vinyl gets damaged and scratched pretty easily and can especially be seen on dark colours like my maroon

Sure does think i have spent about 8 hours so far in total!!

I am going to leave the rear panels as just about had enough so once i get the drivers door done tomorrow i am going to leave it alone.

not sure on any protection i have made a few marks where the glue got on the front never mind.

cheers

ant :hyper:

u think 8 hoours is bad???

i spent practically all last week and half th week befor doing it, apart from a few hours in th evening when i was at work

thts mainly my fault tho for trying to get everything absolutly perfect

How do you get the pneumatic supports off from the bootlid so you can get in to remove the rear interior quarter panels? More to the point, how do you keep the bootlid up afterwards and get them back in again easily?

(It is dashed difficult to line up the boltholes with wife holding up bootlid and complaining mightily).

if your talkin about th panels either side of th rear seats you dont need to do anythin to th hatch. literally pull off th bottom section of th seats and unbolt th top from its hinges. then jus unbolt the panel and pull to realease clips

It's the two plastic triangular bits that go around the rear side windows that I am talking about.

Thanks anyway.

Most people use Electrical wire for the piping.
