I guess there are two of us then..I've got the PowerMac 7500 with a 233MHz G3 upgrade card mate. Have you ever seen a PC user try to eject their floppy out of a Mac......it's bloody hilarious. Still makes me laugh even now.

PC=Supra (common as muck and ugly as sin imho)

Mac=Zed (rare & sexy without a doubt)

Yep, worst of all, Steve Jobbs(Apple) stole from Xerox the Windows system...well technically he didn't steal it, Xerox were stupid enough to give him access to it! Then Bill Gates stole all Steve Jobbs' ideas when silly Steve let Billy Boy Gates in to see what Apple were working on.

Clue here, MAC users! We're safe on the shore, waving goodbye! You're on the Titanic, thinking your unsinkable, thinking you are sailing on the greatest platform the world has seen, but you are still setting sail with a ship of fools. You can't change the future, Apple is going to sink, slowly but surely, beneath the waves of PCs and when it finally does, then you will HAVE TO USE A PC!

How are PCs better than Macs? For one, the software is cheaper, it's made by more companies, and it's more readily available. Ditto for parts. Do you know how hard it is to walk into a local store and order a part for a Macintosh? Apple controls their parts as well. We in the PC industry learned a long time ago about a little term called "Proprietary". It means that you don't want it! It means that you can't go to Walmart, or Electronics Boutique, or Office Depot and buy parts for your MAC. No, you have to go

 

through an Apple certified company at a much greater cost. You don't have that problem with a PC.

I've been using the Mac since the early 80s, at the time it was the only 'affordable' DTP platform, with an interface designed with ease in mind, I haven't ever needed to use a PC, but when I have tried to configue one, I have found it clumsy and long winded but I guess its what you're used to. As a Graphic Designer/Artist I wouldn't use anything else, as for software Quark the industry standard DTP package is the thick end of £1K regardless of platform this is the same with most of the main design packages. At the end of the day it's only a business tool.

 

You're probabally right, Apple will dissapear up its own arse in the course of things (yet again) but hey, I'll use them till they do.

 

Its like Ford and Ferrari, Ford is huge they are cheap so everyone can afford to own and run one, Ferrari one the other hand are very expensive to buy, run and maintain (sounds familiar) but they still have their followers 'cause they fullfill a niche.

 

So, lets live in harmony.

Correct me if I'm wrong Tim, but didn't "Mac Satan" (aka Bill Gates) actually save Apple the last time that they were going bust?

 

Bill was very clever, it worked for him on 2 fronts:

1) It kept the monopolies commission off his back (if there was no Apple, he would be in court in seconds, erm, like he is now )

2) He could sell software on the Mac and make even more money. Things like MS Office on the Mac are much better than anything else you get on the Mac (it's even better than the Windows version of Office). He also gets you using his web browser cos the competition is rubbish.

 

Whether you like it or not, he has succeded. I'm not a fan of Windows particularly (my favourates are HP-UX and RISC OS (when it existed!)) but he has won. The software and hardware is so cheap and easy to get hold of, that using the "competition" is just a hassle. In a perfect world, we'd all be using RISC OS running on 2Ghz StrongARM processors.

LOL! Yeah not to mention hanging problems after removing mouse drivers and shutting down. Then power-off coz you're bored to tears with staring at the "Windows 98 is shutting down!" message for 10 minutes. Then power-up to be greeted by Scandisk coz your machine didn't shutdown cleanly...WTF?

 

Classic example, my mate buys a Pentium III PC with Voodoo graphics card, 64mb onboard ram etc. etc. Then buys 2,500 squids worth of Sony Digi-Cam. Everytime he tries to download footage from the camcorder to the PC it keeps losing frames.

 

Buys a MAC Power Book, with iMovies onboard and the whole thing is a different story. Downloads at a tremendous rate and is smoth as a baby's backside!

 

MAC = Does what it says on the tin

PC = Crap tool full of bullshite!

 

IMHO! NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE AT ALL EVER EVER EVER, VAIN KNIGHTS, NO TAGGING, DOUBLE QUITSIES, 2 SECOND RULE IS NOW IN FORCE ETC...

I admit it.. The main reason I dislike Mac's is because I don't know how to use them! I've used PC's (well, Spectrum followed by Acorn, then Amiga, then PC) all my life, so I know them inside out..

 

But Mac's.. I can fumble through a few things, but I'm basically clueless - and that scares me! Not to mention makes me feel terribly insecure

 

I do quite like the new titanium cased powerbooks though - in fact nearly got one instead of the laptop I have.. But I need PC compat. for work so... Windows it was..

The G4 PB runs as such as pace and has so much RAM as standard you can run VirtualPC (£170) at decent speeds. VirtualPC is allows Windows 2000 to run on the Mac so you can use all that cheap software.
