Anyone?

oh so now i'm confused - arent the threads specified confusing re-cerics/dump valves with the turbo wastegates??

mac - where did you hear that exteranal wastegates were illegal - i cant imagine that they are very loud because they are only desigend to bleed of air over a certain pressure - the dump valaves are loud because the vent ALL the air at a certain pressure.

tell me i'm stupid - every day is a school day

alex

CJ, external wastegates bleed exhaust fumes into your engine bay!

Wastegates are on the exhaust side of your turbo, they bleed exhaust fumes going to the turbine to alter it's speed!

Well it'd be one hell of a lot louder than air bled from the induction side by blow off valves. I think that's the question he's trying to answer.

Id imagine its about as loud as having the exhausts sawn off at the downpipes, but only while at full boost.

Regrads,

alex

ok - so seraching the net i have found that a lot of the gtr's and cossies are running external wastegates - does this mean that that even though they are illegal no one checks/knows/cares ???

Regards,

alex

I don't think you have to have external wastegates, I think internals are an option, to be sure how loud they are ask on ttnet! If you are worried about the legality of it then I don't think any copper could see them, but for me I would not be happy with exhaust fumes entering my passenger area!

the zed uses small turbos compared to other cars, where external wastegates seem to be much more common - surely they wouldnt be this common of they were dangerous, would they?

Well these guys want performance, all I can say is that I wouldn't like to drive a car that has exhaust fumes leaking into the passenger compartment. Firstly it would smell and secondly from a health point of view, which is mainly why they are illegal along with the noise factor. I am not criticising people who want external wastegates as they want the performance, but it is a personal opinion of the type of car I like to drive!

I'll give you a sound clip ...........................................round the bloody ear :D

i know we're talking big boys toys, (you play with toys, the operative word being play) so aren't we getting a little too serious here FFS.

Mac I've always got these recordings on my shelf. Along with that all time classic "My first fart, owch did you here my arm snapping above the sound of my motor bike, You'll see how cooly I told this bounser to fook off before he broke my skull and HERE'S hopping MAC 1 has got a sense of humour because I've heard he's a big lad"

Well I can always say I'm some one else at billing " Ye what a barstool that Markzx". :slap: :D :nono:

Mark this is my set up,check out where the wastgate dumps the air,I can't see that there would be a problem with fumes entering the car.

Alex,It was Bob@SE that told me however I don't take that much notice on what he tells me:D;)

MarkZX yes I do have a sense of humer you f***** c***:D;) Ok then lets hear your fart sound clips on

if thats youre setup mac, then nice to see you've gone for a MT!! :D

seriously tho, it may seem ok there MAC, but itsno different to an exhaust blow at the downpipes, & you'll be amazed at how exhaust fumes find thier way inside the vehicle
