Help on speedo

I'm looking at haveing the limiter removed.

To do the job properly, I'm having the ECU chipped. I'm also told to obtain UK clocks. So what have I got at the moment?

The speedo that is fitted on mine goes upto 180 (with NO incriments after that) and is in mph! I've seen a pic of the JapSpec having kph and upto 190. So do I have a UK clock fitted already or what could it be?

Thanks.

The limitation is is the ECU not the speedo. As you will never get up to 180 there is no need to change the speedo (if it is in Mph that is ) The Jap one is in Kph so I think its approx 120Mph. If someone has put dial overlays on it you do need to change the clocks. Most ECU ICs take the limiter off and also alow the boost the reach 14psi approx. Have someone local to read your IC with a conzult, this will tell you the limitations

Thanks Dave.

It seems that i've got UK clocks then, as they dont look like an overlay, either that or they've done a bloody good job. Working on the assumption that Uk ones go upto 180 and no more.

I was told to obtain UK clocks, by the fact that I've got a JapSpec, not that he has seen my car.

Thanks for your help. :D

I have Jap clocks on my Z, I am trying to remove the 108mph speed limiter,

my clocks go up to 180kmh but with a small electronic gizmo on the clocks it converts

it to mph.

One problem with my gizmo it cuts out at 80mph and then Hicas turns off!!!!!

Nigel, I'm told on good authority that is exactly what happends with these boxes. The best way, or so I'm told, is to have the ECU socketed and chipped, along with UK clocks. Then you wont have probs with the HICAS or Cruise Control. As for it cutting out at 80mph ( ) I have no idea, maybe post a thread asking if anyone can help with that one.

mine goes up to 190 mph, what have i got?? :D  -pop quiz brewing!! ;)

at a guess, I'd say a JapSpec, with a converter box, and an overlay in mph :D, but I could be wrong

When I take my clocks out I will post some pics, I will have to get some pics of the car, I am happy with the 155 limit but not the 108mph

This is the 3rd set of clocks, "starting to p*** me off........."

Striping the clocks down is strate forward, just take your time on the plastic front.

also two small screws on the bottom.

A previous set of clocks let the car go past 108mph, so I know it's down to the clocks.

Let you know how I do...
