Not sure if I am worthy of this site as I don't as yet hace a Zed. Things like the wife, baby, money keep getting in the way. With the combined brianpower of you all I'm sure I can come up with a convicing case to change my Focus for a Zed, bearing in mind that the missus thinks a great car gets you from A to B (not necessarily quickly or in style).

PLEASE HELP!!!

Are there any ppl on here who have partners that either have zeds or wife/husband/partner is totally supportive of your zed obsession?

Stu & Cerina are the only 2 who come to mind

Well, although she ribs me mercilessly for spending money on the Zed, Lucie's really cool about it and in fact...she loves the car! Never had a girlfriend that was not only supportive of my obssession (yes, I'm still talking about the car ;)) but took such an active interest! (Mind you, this is a girl who loves me driving fast when she's in the car and lusts after owning a Harley Davidson...thank you God... ;) :D )

Same here. Clare loves my car and will tag along to Billing, Trax, Japfest etc.

She's a bit of a petrolhead though and loves her S2000!!

My wife told me to get a girlfriend! She said it'd be cheaper and she'd get more time with me! ;)

All joking aside - she's very supportive and quite content with being second place

Maybe 'they' fit into three categories. Wildly supportive (I really can't believe all you happy couples above), the 'hmmm not that car again' lot ( like mine), and the '****ing car I'm leaving' (well, come to think of it, mine kind of verging on the third)

If we'd spent all what you spent on that car on new carpets....

Are we going to have a holiday this year?...

what are THESE doing on the table?...

It doesn't even have a BACK SEAT.... (I know... :D )

Why are you cleaning it AGAIN?

but it's twelve years old!?!?!?!

What about the guy with a GTO in Jap performance a while back whose wife had actually agreed not to have new carpets because he needed to mod the car.

The girlfriend of my boss thinks she looks like a hore when driving his grey t-top zx tt.

Tell her it'll be cheaper then replacing the Focus with a new car. I haven't worked it out but I've heard enough depreciation horror stories (Focus aside, good residuals, but she doesn't need to know that!) to know that getting an old car at the bottom of it's depreciation curve is cheaper then buying new. OK it might use a bit more petrol but if you do the basic maintenance yourself, with the aid of the plethora of tech info on here it should add up.

My girlfriend doesn't really know what it is all about, all she says is that it can't be as good as the old car (S13 200SX) because it doesn't have flippy up lights, FFS. We passed an MX5 tonight and she said, "ooo, a car just like yours" :mac1:

Good girl really, just doesn't get the car thing!

 went lookin 4 a family car too.......saw the Z and next day it was on my drive....he kids know walk to school, so as not to scuff my leather interior...and the tesco shop is done on line........

I have just had the second kiddie and even after advertising the car, I am keeping it. So the plan is...........buy a Volvo estate (an 850 or similar), safety wise it is ranks tops, it really is big enough for EVERYBODY and they are easy to maintain. The safety line will conquer it for you.

Sell the Focus for £7k, buy a volvo for £2,500 and get a relatively tidy Zed for the rest.

She should be delighted...........or get a new burd!

get a zed put a ford focus badge on the bonnet of the day,zed badge on at night, everyones happy except the child who has to get some tips from starvin marvin to get in the back

My Girlefriend's fully supportive, shes a mum and she drives a pulsar so she cant complain:D

My girlfriend keeps telling me to sell it so we can go on holidays n stuff, but she loves it really. I picked her up a couple of days ago in my pals CRX and on the way back she said, "why's nobody looking at me?" ;)

really strange woman, it doesn't have that effect on me  :D

My wife is completely neutral on the matter. When I say neutral, I mean "couldn't give a f___". She's watched me pour money into a series of slightly ridiculous cars, and just shrugs her shoulders.

When I excitedly emailed her to tell her that more condensation out of one exhaust side is fairly normal on a 300ZX when cold, she replied "Why are you telling me this".

She likes to drive it though...

Russ.

Proper Plan and if you by a T5 Volvo they still go like hot snot and only need servicing every 9,000. Cam belt evert 90,000 and Indestructable Mitsubishi Turbo. Down side is thet handle like shit :D

...I'm on year 5 of ownership (of Z) and my wife still hates the car. Refers to it as that hatefull red car...

Have you seen those interludes on the telly where they ask actors etc various questions and get neat one-word answers - well there's one where they ask what theyed rescue if the house was on fire, well I don't keep the Z in the house, but if my house was on fire, I'd rush out and move the Z - all the rest can go up in flames.

...and I'd take my wife out as well - I'm getting into deep water here.

Just buy one, life's too short. I know, I'm old.

New girlfriend. Sits in passenger seat. Looks around. Says "you know, I really do like this car." :D I'm banned from chasing any more M5s whilst she's in the car now though. :nelson:

She refuses to drive it though...

Me ex was suitably scathing, so I took her for a likkle run round the Trough of Bowland. Afterwards, she was still scathing, but also a funny colour. The equity from the marital home paid for it, so that might have affected her judgement. :D

I have to say I've seen loads of couples at meets, and I found myself surprised. (Car meets, I mean, you filthy-minded lot.)

I've just played the missus the RX8 review from Top Gear where Clarkson throws it about like the total hooligan it is, and pulls a full 360 with the arse out...

...and she just said "will you do that with me in the car sometime?"

Do I win five pounds?
