do it quick the law about to change again

soon you will only have the vin/chassis number on there

Are they?

I doubt that, as the the idea of a number plate is to identify the car easily. To have a vin number on a plate it would be really small and people are not very good at remembering a 15 digit code ;)

I had a Supra single turbo, i had...

''STUPIDGODDAMDUMBSHITMOTHER****ER''

written across the btm of the plate, had it done

@ Maxpower live, the guy who did it pissed himself

laughing!

Incidently: They are lyrics taken from a song by

The Offspring called ''Bad Habit''.

apparently so

ive seen the letter from hills no plates ,so its on the way

cant see the point either

how about

IDOXLR8

clever

I've got "3LTR SCOOBY EATER" goes down a treat

4qu2 ?

4qu2 ?

Class ! :D

Would go nicely with a plate I saw on an old beamer -

UPR 1X

He had re-arranged it bit though ;)

The current regulations state that the only text allowed (other than the registration itself, of course) is the identifying name of the plate supplier (so that they can be nicked if they issue an illegally spaced plate).

You're only choice is who you have supply the plate and if you want an EU symbol next to it. SO sorry, what you're talking about is already Illegal on a street plate

so is breaking the speed limit

but we all do it

But you intentionally broke the law. You can accidently go over the speed limit and then just as quick correct it. You cant accidently order a numberplate with extra text and illegal graphic on. To supply such a plate knowing its going on a car is also illegal.

you take your chances you pay the fine

any way they have to catch you first

im sure they have more things to worry about then a bit of nonsence on a numberplate

Don't know about that....

I got a fixed penalty a few months ago for a dirty numberplate......... :xxx:

Wasn't so bad, though, as the unmarked plod-car did clock me at around 80mph in a 60mph limit, but let me off. He said "......I was otherwise driving with care in clear dry conditions in a car more than capable of handling the speed in question....."

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The law on NEW PLATES is that it must have the new style font on it must be legal spacing, and must carry the makers name and postcode on it, to identify the plate if it has been mis made or mis represented. Also all makers selling RETAIL plates must be registered with DVLA and keep records of all plates made and V5 logbook or V948 retention.

You can still get plates made by non registered companies, eithier based out of the uk mainland or from display plates companies, but any made in the uk which are non legal are likely to have "not for road use" on the back.

I make plates at work, andive heard nothing of the vin/chasis thing, I cant see that happening, as any passer by would be able to clone your car by looking at the reg plate.

Unless the gestapo have carbon dating machines on board these days though they'll have trouble proving the plates weren't made before the legislation was passed on a car that's between 9 and 15 years old ;)

Bang on. All this about not being able to have this and that on you car as the law has changed is ballcocks. If it was legal when the car was first registerd you can have it on you car. It may be illegal for UK companies to supply numberplates other than those that comply with current legistration, but it is only illegal to have numberplates that carry anything that was outlawed at the date of first registration of your car.

So if you want stick on number plate on the front of your car you can. + various logos etc. If a copper tells you otherwise just say ok I'll see you in court.

If it was legal to shoot baggers in April 1978. You could not be done in May 1978 for shooting a bagger in March 1978 just because they changed the Law in May. Hope this makes sense.

5 out of 10 times coppers and Solicitors haven't got a clue. I got stopped last year on the Wrexham buy pass by a copper in a patrol car who tryed to give me a speeding ticket for doing 70 mph. He told me it was 60. He was wrong but I knew it. If I hadn't I would have got done because I would have admitted speeding even though I wasn't. Get the picture
