Dodgy cluth problem

When I am stuck in traffic for more than about 30 mins just stopping and starting in first gear the biting point of my clutch gets higher and higher untill it is slipping like mad. Had to pull out of the traffic tonight and drive at walking pace in first gear to get home tonight but after a few miles of driving normally it slowly gets back to normal. This happened in the queue at Trax (this is why my track time pass is still in the car frown.gif

The clutch cant be worn out because when it returns to normal I can put all 1000 bhp smile.gif through it without any slip.

Sounds rather like air in the clutch hydraulic system to me..

From memory there is a section in http://www.ttzd.com/tech/clutchtech.html about it..

I think air in the hydraulics would cause you to not be able to activate the clutch - not the other way round.....???? I dunno, these auto box boyZ eh Az??? biggrin.gif

Dunno whats actually causing the problem though - sounds like there's something blocked to me.....

Hi Paul

I've had the same problem at Meadowhall in Sheffield, I was sat in traffic for 45mins, clutch started slipping like mad, I had to drive a couple of miles with the engine screaming and doing about 5mph, felt like a right twat.

Went to the garage with it and they told me the clutch was just too hot! Never had the problem again, I just avoid heavy non moving traffic!

Regards
