EGR Valve

There is a sort of hissing sound around the back of the engine at idle that is still there after changing all the vacuum lines that I could get at for silicone. Could it be the EGR valve, and if so is it posible tro remove, disbale or bypass it with the engine in?

Could this be the cuase of high but stable idle. I had a rough idle at about 800 rom, but after replacing plugs, cleaning throttle bodies and checking all the injector connectors, etc the idle rose to 1000 rom. I'm a little perplexed.

Mine did the same after cleaning the TB's and TPS. It did settle down again after 30-40 miles though?. Is it worth reseting the ECU?.

That hissing could simply be the idle valve operating. Reset the ECU and reset base idle, give it 500 miles and see how it is then...

my idle went from 750 - 1000 after cleaning the TB's, concensus is that you should wait 500 miles for ECU to reset and then adjust base idle,

Can you get to the base idle adjustment screw without taking out the battery

With a very short screwdriver yeah.

With a very short screwdriver yeah.

I've a stubby Halford screwdriver that won't fit into the gap. Where can I get/find something smaller (No Friday afternoon comments please :p )

can you not undo the battery clamp and move it out the way slightly?
