if its got all the relevant service history then i dont see it as a concern, but if it has any dodgy history then walk away, these beast needs some serious tlc and any scrimping on servicing is a bad thing,

think theres a few of us from the notts area sure one us could have a look with u

nice one beermonster, not realy got the cash at the mo, probably end of this year, early next, really looking for a manual though, just keeping my eye out, where in notts are you

My car has got 170,000 miles and the engine is in bits at the moment fixing a smoking problem, but to be honest the smoking problem was propably the PCVs as they where completely blocked and split. The PCV blocking is a very common cause for a smoking engine and is quite simple and cheap to repair. I just went OTT and modified the engine while I was at it.

mines done 150k

no probs

second eingine

second set of tubs

3 rd gearbox

20 sets of tyres

30 sets of brakes

2 million pound of optimax

2 cleans

Mines 136 similar UK TT original engine and tubs. Just figured out how to do the diagnostic after 3 years! Got code 55. Easy to do.

Look out for rust on the OS rear wheel arch (bubbles) at 11 O'clock pos and both rear sections of the sills.

Obviously by this mileage it wants to have had shocks, front tension rod bushes, as well as all the must haves. Sideways skip at the rear means shocks or maybe duff Hicas arms or outer joints. Look for odd tyre wear.

One of mine is approaching 190k miles.

Original bottom end of the engine but third set of cylinder heads. Not really the engines fault, but rather splitting water hoses.

Second pair of turbos. First pair replaced at about 130k miles.

So, the mileage is not really a problem if properly looked after wtith loving tlc. Just keep an eye on all the rubber bits.

...or you could buy a nice import with much lower mileage for similar money (however much you're spending) - you'll just find insurance a little bit steeper on a Jap spec, but you'll probably get a much 'younger' car for your money

hi ,import insurance not steep for me £380 full comp age 39 max no claims collectors policy i have a non turbo cully z

That's not bad, but for a collectors poliocy don't you need full use of another vehicle?? and it goes up quite a bit if you tell them you have a modded TT import - but the list of people who you have to ring for quotes is shorter! (cause most of them won't touch it!).

I'm 40, with 5 years no claims, Jap TT with circa +50bhp mods and I just got re-insured for a tad under £1000.

(Manchester Postcode doesn't help though)
