Help!

It has siezed solid, I've got a mechanic looking at it who has no experience of Zeds... :(

Any1 any ideas what I should do from here?

Should I go for a rebuild? or should I try and source another engine?

Maybe go for a rebore & forged pistons or gawd knows (i.e. try to make the best of a bad situation and get the engine beefed up with better bits)

Anyone know a good zed mechanic in Gloucestershire? i'm fairly near Cheltenham.

Any help would be much appreciated..

I have an idea........find a mechaninc that DOES know about Z's!

When my engine blew I was hoping it could be repaired but a hole in the block the size of your fist saw to that! My thinking was I knew what I had then-rebuilding my own engine, another used engine is a slight gamble. In the end SE did come up trumps and supplied and fitted a very low miler.

1st step has to be to get it to someone who knows their stuff.

Do you have any breakdown cover? I personally wouldn't worry about distance, just go to someone who I could trust.

Engine seized could be a number of things - has he cut all the auxiliary belts off to check its not a seized water pump or something?

Nope, but thats the kind of advice I'm looking for :)

Some basic steps to check out first.. he has basically tried to turn the flywheel and poition indicator thingy is stuck solid on 0, he cant even budge it slightly

And if it is definetly seized what would be the best value fix..

The mechanic I have looking at it (and thats all he is doing atm) is my next door neighbour who specialises in big american lumps.

'poition' read position ;)

'thingy' read mechanical thicko

What heppened before it seized???

I have no Idea, I bought it at auction and was prepared for the worst case scenario

but the person auctioning it said it turned over... that was a blatant lie. It doesn't turn over, the starter motor just clicks away.

I couldn't check it when I got there, late at night loads of hassle & foolishly took the guy's word that it turned over (battery was flat)

I transported it home, initially hoped it might be the starter but alas :(

I got it for £1500, and if I have to buy an engine or a rebuild, it will still be an ok buy... if it proves too costly, I may break it & cut my losses & just buy one that goes! :)

For a small consideration my 3 German Shepherds can visit the guy who sold it to you :D
