Id be careful about lowering this car. I have a fairly standard setup, slightly harder springs, but same length, and poly bushes. However, when I had the 99 spec front bumper put on, I now catch speed bumps 50% of the time. Not enough to cause real damage, but enough to take a bit of paint off from the underside.

Im not going down the lowering route, just saving up for some 19" Rims :)

And if you lower the back too much it'll sit on the bumpstops and handle terribly. TBH the standard(ish) ride height is about right.

Not if you correct the camber

nah my cars really low and its fine. Just abit of a hard ride. I have HKS shocks and springs

dave where did u get ur shocks and springs from?? mines all ready lowered but i want the back wheels sittin jst under the arch!! how low is urz dave?

Its an import and already had them on. So not sure. It also has 18" alloys on it as well, I don't have any problems with rubbing and bottoming out.

lucky u then!! im on 18" an all and me front bumper catches 70 percent speed ramps, pain in the ass. my fronts lower than me rear. ne way cheers mate

I bought chasis dynamics springs from needforspeed up north.

Lowered car about 60mm I think, with 18inch running 265x35x18 they sit under arch perfect, car still handles like a dream, i would say much better than stock, also running 245x40x18 on front and they go right up under the arches, they clear everything by literaly 1-2mm if the plastic splash guard on underside isnt perfect it grinds on it, but, after some severe securing, it works fine and looks the b*******, camber is off, the wheels are towing in and look like there is no way they will turn on lock and they go under arch, but they are fine, I just switch tyre sides half way through tread on inner wall, lol.

springs cost about 90 squid i think, and tbh i been in cars with much better shocks etc and it seems no diff at all to mine.

A guy in my street owns a Z got hks springs etc on, and he says his looks crap compared to mine as he wants his to sit as low as mine lol.

p.s i never have any problem with speed bumps around swindon, only sharp inclines etc (driveways on hills and stuff) spped bumps are fine, I just have to go real slow so the suspension doesnt bog at all, but I dont care, gives people a chance to look at me car lol.

I just switch tyre sides half way through tread on inner wall, lol.

Do you use cheap non directional tyres then Steve-o ?

Robin

No got pirelli p-zeros, directional yes, but mounting them the same way on other side means same direction, as long as you dont mount them with the tread pattern backwards, just moves inner to outter wall not on about swapping wheels over cause then it would be backwards hence I said;

caught one speed bump and f**ked me middle box on it sh*t!!!!

oh well gave me a good excuss to get me full blitz exhaust. he he!!!!!

Hi lads,

Just checked, they were AVO springs on box, and I think they were chasis dynamics ones, not 100% on that.

Just ask for whichever ones are lowest!!!!

Anyways, they been fitted two years now and still mint, brill springs.

They were bought from http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbpm_pt.asp?Type=1&Category=1&MCode=AVO01&Maker=Avo&User=NFS

Bout 100 squid.

Cheers

me

AM I the only one on here that thinks this is a really bad idea?

Unless you're using the car exclusively for the track I would have thought that lowering and stiffening the suspension, plus adding larger wheels with lower profiles is just asking for trouble on normal roads!

A mate of mine did all this to a Saab 900 turbo and then shagged his wheels on an unmarked ramp at some roadworks. Blew both tyres, cracked both rims and crashed into a speed cone. Cost him a fortune, and the ramp was just 45mm!

Oh well each to their own I suppose!

cheers stev ill giv em a ring on tuesday, me cars featured on http://www.cardomain.com if u wana hav a look its nissan 300zx ok mate cheers
