I am spraying some of the engine covers before they go back on. What colour should I go for? The car will be a dark purple.

I was thinking red but Im not sure it will go well with purple.

 

I was going to use a colour I was going to use for the car. Its a dark blue pearl but its dark and there wont be much light in the engine bay to show the colour.

TBH Stu, if you are spending so much money on getting the carA1, I would spend that tiny bit more and get the under bonnet "Blinged Up" with some lights. Doesn't have to be neons but if you are going for a one off colour for the body, I would have the underboonet area matching.

 

But that's just my opinion. :dance:

lol - now how do I answer this one. This is going to be one of those Hannabal moments from the A-Team, but it's late so I can't be bothered.

 

All I meant was, he could have some "nice" Subtle lighting to show off all the effort put in. Not Neons(not that there's anything wrong with neons), but something a but more purposeful, and I don't mean a great bit whapping 500w halogen jobbie either!

The pink or pink ish isn't such a bad Idea. No no hear me out. I did a spay job on my motor bike some time back and that many people liked it I ended up painting quite a few. You paint the engine parts Purple then high light every thing thats purple under the bonnett (all raised and leading edges, and tone in any large flat areas) with a pearl candy pink. so you get a sunburst type effect it would look the dog's. Trust me I'm serious.

Sound pretty kewl actually, the whole light thing and highlighting edges sound kewl, not for any car, but then if you going for a purple re-spray, well why not, it would match pretty well.

As for paint options......if the outside of the car (and the engine bay?) are purple, then how about SILVER details....brushed/polished ally, chrome. :cool:

Weeeeellllll, if the car is your pride and joy then ....CLEAN THE FOOKING THING!! I thought that's what being and enthusiast was all about! Just look at all the chrome and polished ally on custom bikes/cars, yes it's a bit of a PITA sometimes, but it keeps you 'intimate' with your car, and lets you see any potential problems (such as loose connections/bolts) before they turn catastrophic!

But this is not a bike.

The parts are chromed on a bike because they are on show and because they are made of metal. The cam belt covers are not metal and can not be polished to be nice and shiny same with the fan shroud. The cam covers which you can not see very well, only in some parts is painted black.

 

Personally I dont want the engine bay to look like a huge mirror.

Nope, films which dont ride entirley on the writer and directors name are the ones I like. If the film was the same but didnt have QT name on it, it would have flopped.
