Are the keys identical?

 

If not, I would imagine that the car had an attempted theft at one point!

 

Does the ignition match the passenger and hatch lock? If so, the above could be very likely.

nah, the ignition fits the ignition and the other key (not got a plastic nissan cover on) fits the doors and the hatch????????????????????

hi mate im an auto locksmith by trade,and yeah it sounds like the above is true!place ignition key side by side with door key if looks are differant then its likely the lockz have been changed at some point,or the key couid be slightly warn nissan locks are not very good quality and are exactly the same as the skyline!ignition locks are more fussy in key accuracy,as there are more wafers in the lock appossed to the door or hatch.i can get your ignition working of your doorlocks but it wouid involve you removing the cylinder plugs from inside the door panel and disconectin the vertical rod and c clip!!then sending locks and your ignition key to me along with £25ish to pay for a nissan keying kit but alot cheaper than your local locksmith feel free to email me at greg300zx@hotmail.com cheers

cheers matey, probably end up de-locking it anyhoo - anything that makes the thieving little scrotes of the world pick the car behind or in front of mine!!
