Normal why?

Good question. What's the score Andy? I thought the stock ones were fine.

Z1 motorsports supplied a set of Wiseco pistons for my Z and recommended that I use NA oil squirters. Apparently, forged pistons can't match up to the oil draining that the oem pistons can and the NA squirters are angled differently...Andy may want to add to this though :duffer:

Z1 said nothing like that to me. I can see where you are coming from. The old pistons have oil holes where the squirters are aimed at. Oil can ride around the inside of the piston before falling out the opposite hole or out the same.

When did you get your pistons Steve?

Hi Stuart,

My pistons were delivered in October last year!!! Now that the sun is nearly here, I'm chasing Progress to get the engine finished.

Z1 weren't forthcoming with the information about the NA oil squirters. I raised the issue and they said that they use them in their rebuilds. I got them to supply me a set with the pistons.

I'm sure that my high oil consumption using JE pistons was partly due to the oil squirters!

I wouldn't have thought that any UK engine builders would change to the NA squirters though.

Have you also fitted the Z1 wiseco pistons then? Mine are being machined to a lower compression than what Z1 have supplied.

yeah the gif at the top of the screen is my block with the pistons in.

How much where the NA squirters?

What would the problem be with TT squirters?

Right, as Steve says, there is a slight issue (whether it really is an issue or not...) with the place the oil squirters point at on the piston. The TT pistons have a hole which then distributes the oil within the piston to aid cooling. Aftermarket pistons do not have this hole, so therefore it is suggested that to get the best cooling possible, NA squirters are used as these point more centrally up the bores. Its up to you Stuart, opinions vary on this so much - which is why I asked, just curious which way you went.

If you want more info I'll dig it out for you...

CheerZ,

Andy

How much are a set of those pistons?

Not bad at all considering the $ to £, ill keep those in mind when I take mine off the road:D

Good news :D when do you think you'll have it finished?

Have you actually changed them yourself? Are they expensive?

I'm running stock internals  ;):D

No your not. Its a FACT stock internals cant run more than 367.84930573929 BHP. ;)

I knew the NA would be better at something! ;) :D
