What is the air flow meter, and what does it do- measure the flow of air I guessing??

Can you get an aftermarket one and if so what does it do for the car? I know where it IS, just not what it's FOR.

Yeah it measures how much air is being sucked in so the ECU kows how much fuel to bung in accordingly (taking into account a few other variables such throttle position coolant temp etc).

The stock one Z32 TT is good for 500bhp, it's a common upgrade on the 200sx.

I doubt you'll be needing an upgrade for a while, common upgrades are to run two AFM's or a MAP sensor.

So a chip would be the upgrade to make use of this?

not being funny, but i dont think you're gonna be needing any more than stock on an N/A!!

I don't think that the NA one is the same as the TT version in that the resolution of what amount of air it can measure is less but I'm pretty sure it's the same physical size. If that makes any sense. LOL.

Not sure what the NA tuning path is, Jock would probably be a good person to ask.

The usual, exhaust, filter, chip and cams probably.

I only mention it because a guy hanging round when I was getting the exhaust done said it was something you could do. Maybe he meant getting a chip.

I have had a look at stuff people have written about the upgrade path for an NA and I'll get an induction kit then do the break upgrade if I've got any cash left that is.

Jezz,

I was told that NA and TT AFM's are exactly the same................

Would be handy to know if that's true, do you reckon you could find out for sure? :)

Loads of cars such as, primeras, scoobs, skylines... have the same physically sized AFM, but the Z32 is by far the best WRT the amount of air it can measure.
