Hey

every time i close the door or boot i create a vacum inside the car. I have had a tailgate conversion and as a result the paint work has started to crack. the only way around this is to close the door or boot with the widow open and close it afterward. I know a couple of other zedders that have had similar problems. is there any way to resolve this without drilling a hole somewhere? :hyper:

I didnt think they where that air tight. My t-tops leaks water all the time, so it cant be that good ;)

how is a vacume causing the paint to crack?

well if i close the door with the window closed the boot/tailgate moves due to the pressure thus causing the crack. I understand where your coming from, becuase my car leaks as well when it rains. i think the problem might be due to the fact that you have to shut the door with a bit of force, obviously not anymore than that equired to close an normal door.

the same thing seems to happen if the doors are closed and i close an open boot (if i dont close it gently the tailgate almost flexs).

spoke to a guy on the forum last week who was having the same problem and he is doing exactly what i am doing i.e. closing everything with the windows open!

hence need help.

There are actually little breather things in the boot to stop that happening. Under the carpet and I think behind the trim on the left hand side as you look into the car. Think there's one either side in the arches.

May be worth trying to find them to see if they've been blocked by something.

Ahhh.

I know what you mean, my boot moves slightly.

I think there is little you can do other than drill a hole. Try pulling back the carpet in the boot and take out the foam under the carpet too. There is plenty of ways of the air getting out there, but I think the carpet and foam inserts are preventing it. As I remember when I stipped my car down, there are infact air vents under the carpet and foam in the boot.

i have a picture of my car on my harddrive. how do i put it as a signature. everytime i try and attach a pic i click on the "attach pic" icon and it comes up with this http:/ thingy.....what the F*uck am i supposed to type in.!

you'll need to put the picture online somewhere, like your rides section, then it will have a URL you can point to...

Why not add total closure to your alarm system, then shut the door with the window open, then set the alarm...... ;)

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

well I`m kinda doing that now anyway. i close the door with window open, then press the window switch from inside...then set alarm....full closure with no extra cost!
