Am running the 270.bin on my NA, and it is very good, but is still over cautious, ran the 555 version on the TT and it is very much overfuelled at the top end, again in the name of caution. If you look at the fuel maps you can see it, at thor the other day the ratio dropped into the low tens above 5000 rpm, but was fine up till then

How can you actaully tell if the map is overfueling and making things worse or not as good as it could be? Are you basing your view of over fueling how the car is performing or on actually looking at the mapping values?

I just wondered how you can actually tell when it is too much.

Well I guess the smell of unburnt petrol out the back is one dead cert! :D

(No Stu, not being facetious - that's how I guessed mine was overfuelling!)

nigel is right in one case, the smell and the large flame on full throttle changeups, also thor (when they run a dyno test) do an exhaust analysis and they were able to confirm what I had already surmised.

its meant to be better than the JWT.

any comparisons, comments, dyno runs??

Make sure you've got the corrected map version of that image, since there was some duff figures put in the whole series of maps that were done

An recent downloads should have the fixed values inside.

ah, ok. the site said it was safer & produced more power than a JWT.

are you running your own custom chip john?

Can I download one of these into my stock 1990 Jspec NA Auto?

If so, how do I do it?

My current stock set up is definitely overfuelling.

Thanks

Mooch

Greetings from Norway!

I just pop in ;)

About the bin, i think you should download the Zcontroll and look in the instalation map (programs) there is a better bin with some corected values.

AIV delete and so on. I run this on my car and it work perfect.

Just remember to change the knock fuel/igniton map to stock ones. The euro A/T bin has some good maps for that.

Mooch, you can download the 270.bin file, burn it onto a chip and put it in your ecu if it is socketed.

yeah, i have downloaded it & have looked at the .bins that came with it the other day. :)

i was just wondering if anyone was running these custom maps & what they think of them compared to the mass market chips (JWT etc), & if they have had any dynos done for comparison?

Paul, the maps in 310Z aren't really custom, it's a stock japanese timing map with a stock US? fuel map with the top end leaned out to 11.2 (theoretical) AFR.

Having said that I've no doubt it will make more power than JWT. I'd just be cautious the first time you run it as with stock injectors, if they're not spot on, aiming for 11.2 AFR might well give you >12.

Thanks, but keep going! How do I burn a chip? What sort of chip (I presume EPROM) and where do I buy it?

john - i think i'll stick with my JWT to be on the safe side!! :D

Mooch, click on the link i posted, tells you all about it ;)

Some people have AFR monitors on their cars, don't they? Bet that's big money though.

Plus these gurus have a sixth sense - they can do it by smell and response and stuff...

Or the black smoke belching out the back ...

You can get a wideband O2 for around £150 if you're prepared to build it yourself.
