I've read loads of brake upgrades for the Z's but just what is the best? Looking at the data on the forum, the skyline conversion seems to the best, but I've seen good write ups of people using Tarox 40-groove discs and Ferodo S2000(?) pads. I've got about £500 to lose so what are the options??

I know what people mean about the standard brakes, especially now I've got full boost pressure back!!!! :D

If I remember rightly Tarox were crap. The discs would warp too easily :( for £500, the Skyline set-up would be your best bet :)

I am looking at this too. if I go down the Skyline route, what alterations are required, and where is the best place to source the parts?

Thanks,

Simon :D

My thanks Vijay.

You seem a useful source on this site, (amongst others before you all start clamouring!!)

Simon. :D :D

nah, just learnt from this site, it's been a saviour!!!!

Well I've been tracking back through the threads re siting an oil pressure sender, and there you are in the thick of it again. Need to get hold of one of those 90degree thingamees I think :(

Tarox are absolute pants, worse than stock!

The only way to go are R33 VSpec or Ap 6 pot!

Don't forget that your wheels might not fit back on after the upgrade, Brembo Calipers are just a lickle ickle wickle bit BIGGER than stock zed items! -

You might have to think about wheel spacers - or new alloys!!!!!

if you are putting the Skyline calipers on its a bit stupid not upgrading to the larger discs too and you will need larger wheels for that.

Stu, do you mean larger diameter - or is it just a question of the offset from the hub to the back of the wheel?

no the diameter is not large enough, you will need at least 17 inch wheels to make them fit and the correct offest. That is one plus for having Skyline wheels, Skyline brakes will fit under them

I have heard of one person who fitted them under stock wheels and spacers, but having them on my car I find it hard to believe looking at them!

...and a lot of replacement wheels (like mine) have even less offset than the stock ones did - I had to put thin spacers in to get clear (by about half a millimeter!)
