I walked along to the import dealer up the road at dinnertime today and was sad to see a state of a zed up for £4300.

It was (once) pearl yellow, but was faded and streaky. The back panel was cracked, inside was worn - 109k km on the clock- looked more like it could have done 109k miles or more. The panel trims were cracked, it had two BBS alloys or something on the back, and two standards on the front. No gear knob, bad window tints.

It looked really bad- just wonder if they will ever get someone to buy it. OK, the engine could run beautifully. But I doubt it.

dont look at mine then

I've just spent 4 months looking at dodgy ones until I found mine, and even that needs some cosmetic stuff inside, although sound mechanicals. Almost all i've seen needed prop bearings at the very least. One I saw had no electrics to the passenger door, almost didn't spot it!

Thing is they are getting old and people buy them for a year, do nothing and pass them on. Cheap thrills for 12 months at the new owners expence! They aren't the cheapest cars to run but my extensive 7 days of ownership prove beyond doubt (to me at least, don't ask the girlfriend) they are fabulous cars, worth keeping in good nick.

Long live the Z!!

I've done 90,000+miles in my Z and I wouldn't be suprised if mine looks newer and less used than yours. Oh ya, the car had already clocked 40,000miles when I bought her 4 years ago in April. (it'll be our forth aniversary :) So milage has nothing to do with it. Its just people who either carn't really afford to run a Z or just don't give a sh1t about their motas.

Remember wether you want to admit it or not, there are some real animals out their.

I'm not saying milage matters, or your my car looks better than your car. What I should have said was, it looked like it had been round the block more than a few times- I mean badly kept. Used and abused.

Mine's not badly kept- 25k miles, and looks NEW inside, NEW in the engine bay and I do give a shit about it. :)

Having said that, it's twelve years old and I suppose bits wear out no matter how well it's been looked after. My Clutch slave cylinder went just after I got the car, and that was all until recently. Then I had clunking on the offside suspension, then a lorry threw up a stone taking a chunk out the windscreen, then I got a flat and lost the locking wheel nut key, next a truck went into my rear quarter (£500) , the exhaust started blowing - holes in both back boxes (£600), new tax came up, and now a bit of oil under the gearbox. Oh yes, and some touching up to be done on the side sills where jokers jacked it up when I wasn't around. Expensive month. Hey, who needs to eat.

Real animals? you mean good ones? I've seen more shite than good, but then I've seen all good at meets and no shite which has got to tell you something....

I've seen all good at meets and no shite....

You didn't have a proper look round mine then.....Only kidding.

I know when i was looking for the right Z to buy, they were worst at traders rather than privately, looked at one imparticially at a place called Syston sports (i think you said you looked at this also rich) and what a pile of shite that was, advertised saying 380bhp, pwhahaha, mine must have 600bhp then.

Personally i would now only buy a Z from an enthusiast or take someone like AndyDuff etc etc with me to back me up if i was looking elsewhere.

Rich:D

It amazes me that Dealer think they'll get that for it - but lets face it - if someone's willing to pay that then it will doa asmall bit for keeping the price up (good for all of us if we every have to claim on our insurance). See if you can get some photos with the price tag on for my insurance file!!!!
