wonder if anybody could help with a problem? after a run my cars idle speed hunts between 900 and 1500 RPM for about 15secs then levels out at 800 RPM . Around town the idle is perfect , I have changed most things I can think of ,plugs, air filter fuel filter.

There's a whole world of things to mess with on idle - search the forum for "IAA" and "adjust" or somert.

But your particular problem sounds like ECU temp sensor - yellow one on top rad pipe - take it off (carefully) and clean the contacts. Try not to fire the spring clip on the connector across your drive. ;)

TPS connectors also. Mine would suddenly settle down to a slow idle when the connectors were wiggled. Unplugged them on and off a few times to clean up the contact surfaces and since then OK.

Also it could be time for a throttle body cleanout and a clean out of the idle valve that meters idle air flow.

found the engine temp sensor, but what and where are the TPS connectors?

but what and where are the TPS connectors?

If you are stood at the front of your car looking at the engine the little black box on the rhs side of the rhs side throttle body is the TPS throttle position sensor. It is a variable resistor gizmo that translates the throttle butterfly angle into a voltage that makes sense to the ecu (engine computer) so it knows how much throttle you are giving the engine. It is also important for the auto trans ecu to help decide change points. There are 2 connectors with wires - one direct onto it and another on wires just underneath it.

If you are not sure what you are doing you risk breaking these or the brittle 10 year old well cooked wiring! Suggest you study the online manual
