:(

What should I go for? I asked about this a while ago, so I will do a search and see if I come up with anything. Is there any advantage to single sided, or double? I would like dual exit purely for cosmetic reasons, and not too noisy. Am I weird? I really don't want it to be much noisier than I can. I don't get a kick out of a deafening roar.

It doesn't seem to be that different with this hole. I did read about Tiger exhausts in Banzai, and thought they sounded reasonable. Will I get any change out of £500?

Also, I don't like the look of that wet stain on the arm. Should I be worried. I havn't actually gone under the car, just taken a few photos.

Be careful buying cheap Stainless steel exhausts!

Some are just crap quality and there's a load of difference between grades of stainless. Before you have anything fitted, take a magnet along and see if it sticks (even a fridge magnet works).

My guess is that the magnet will stick to all of your bargain deals! - Stainless (of any real quality) is NOT magnetic.

You get what you pay for!

As for noise, keep the mid silencers (they seem to do most of the work) and if you're getting rid of the cats, watch your turbos! (decatting will seriously reduce their life!)

This seems to be more of a decision than I thought.

I have just read MTLs exhaust write-up (that was very helpful).

I want to keep low-end torque, and I do not want to have a huge loud thing. What actually needs to be replaced? Can I go for a good S/S back box, then change the mid-section etc later? Looks like the pipes are pretty rusty.

It seems the exhaust on an NA is more of a problem than on a turbo. Also it's an SWB.

What would de-catting do? Do you do that for an NA? So is exhaust pipe width going to affect my NA?

WooHoo someone's read one of my write-ups and said it was usefull :D :D :D

Yes- it was, thanks. So the width of the piping is more crucial if it's an NA? I will have another read of that write-up and try and get a price for something half-decent.

why not just get a replacement stock item, it sounds like its what you are looking for.

Rich,

Grashopper can supply SWB stainless exhausts, made by JP.

Quality is excellent and they can tailor it to your spec.

I did consider a replacement stock, and may go for that, but I am tempted (when I have to replace the thing anyway) to go for a stainless steel, and do the induction at the same time. Stainless steel would last longer and look better, wouldn't it? I seem to remember reading somewhere that a stock replacement would be in the region of £400. Is that true? If so, wouldn't I be better going for an S/S. Would it make a difference to power, I mean would I get any improvement, or only at the expense of low end torque, like MTL seems to be saying in the write up.

I will investigate grasshopper prices now too. I thought I might have to get one tailored as it's an SWB, which is why I suggested Tiger, as the Banzai article showed them fitting it and bending the pipes etc.

cant beat a mongoose for value for money! excellent construction & retains the quad (although bigger!) tail pipes.

not loud enough for some, but i find it perfect! a little more of a burble than stock, but no drone on motorway runs!!

i got mine from Smithy, not sure if he still does these tho?

That seems to be a good choice for me- will I be able to get it to fit my SWB?

ah, sorry didnt read that bit :o not sure if they do a SWB version tbh

Thinking of replacing mine. Got a price for a Powerflow system £380.00 fitted all in. Any comment?.

Good, bad, any body got one?

Where was that from? I'm in Leamington and work in Birmingham.

Go for a custom one from Predator - haven't got their no with me, but do a search you'll find it. Based in Hertfordshire they'll do anything you want.

Geoff.

I would agree with the Mongoose one, not too loud, have just been out to my car for you (in the cold, wind and dark) and checked with a magnet, it didnt stick to the back box. Cant say about the rest of it, cus its bloody wet out there as well :D.

Worth a phone call to Luke at the ZCentre he may be able to help even though there isnt a 2 seater one listed on his site.

Powerflow system price was from Kingwinford tyres (01384 401656) speak to Mark or Andy. Went over, showed me examples. Normal quote was £420.00 but as the Powerflow representative was there all week he gave me the £380.00 deal.

Could I have a mongoose back box, and then get pipes made to order? or is that just not worth it/not possible?

mongoose exhausts are 1 piece from the cat back im afraid, you would have to cut the pipe & modify

Ive got a veilside on mine! (some reason its also got a jasma tag on it?? )

But it sounds really nice but very quite, a looks the part - i dont know how much they are though

Anyone any ideas??

Mongoose every time. Bit of a pain to fit but they sound and look superb. Get yourself along to the Midlands meet on Saturday in Solihull, and you'll see some examples of what they SHOULD look like. :D

Cheers

Bruiser

See if that worked!

See if that worked!

This looks good, and sounds like what I am looking for, but are they just whole systems? It seems I am pretty limited to places that will make up the exhaust for the car. I have posted on the Powerflow thread, but I would say Longlife sound like they are pretty good.

Grasshopper is a bit far, I will ring Predator if I can find their number and see what they can do. The main choice at the moment is £450 Powerflow- and the fitter is literally just round the corner, or £650 Longlife, fitted in Walsall. Longlife seem to be getting a better write-up on the other thread and it sounds like they use better steel.

I slapped on a bit of paste to try and hold it together for the moment, still got to make my decision!

I think its a mongoose, just come on ebay mate

Rich,

Whatever your desision I wouldn't consider stock, I think your talking £400 plus EACH BACKBOX!!!!! & salty UK roads will eat it again
