I need someone who knows about engines to listen to my ticking/knocking noise?

The outlets in Reading are not as good as the outlet stores in Lancaster, which is about 30 mile west of Reading. Lancaster has two outlet centers with a total of ~ 200 shops. The more popular ones are Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Sony, Bose, Polo, GAP, etc. If you're in the Lancaster area, give me a call.

The screw driver to the back of your ear trick is good for locating the noise. Simply touch the engine with the tip of it and put the other on yer ed. It will localise the noise which is half way there to diagnosis.

Thanks guys, and thanks to all the Forum members who helped me correctly diagnose and treat my (what turned out to be a) sticky lifter or two. The flush trick worked fine.

 

My car is now purring like the tomcat that it is thanks to all of you.
