I was doing some work last night on the fuel lines, and noticed that the vacuum hose was split again!! I only replaced it a couple of weeks ago! As soon as I opened the engine I heard a loud hissing next to the battery, and sure enough the pipe's ruptured almost in half this time!

Why is this happening??

Replace it with silicone line.

This line is VERY important as it is the one that controls the fuel pressure!

You can safely remove the PVPR system if you want by connecting the FPR vacuum line straight to the side of the plenum where the other line goes then junking the solenoid and surge tank (in the wing).

That's the problem mate - it is silicone line! Since I got rid of the original fuel lines, the line now goes from the fpr straight to the plenum on the passenger side.

Perhaps you're bending it too tightly or it's the wrong diameter ?

Nope - plenty of slack and the diameter is correct - it's part of the kit Smithy sends out with his braided lines. I'm really stumped on this one...

Something's obviously doing it... undue vibrations, physically being knocked, or too much heat?

Is your battery secure? Is it leaking acid?!

ok, it can't be the vibrations or being knocked. Too much heat? Possibly. Acid???....I noticed that around the splits, the hosing had been eroded a bit on the surface. It was a bit white as if something had eaten away at it. I'll check tonight. Thanks mate!

There's not much white stuff and it's only on the surface. I don't think that this is what is causing it to break, but I'm running out of ideas.

Will let you k now when I check tonight.

Ch

No white stuff anywhere on my engine...

I think your battery is leaking!
