Been looking at some Toyo Proxes T1-S tyres. It says that they are only rated at either V, W & Y, but I thought that some people on here had fitted them:confused:

If so, does this mean that we can get away with Y rated tyres for our Z's?

Please advise ASAP, as i'm looking at buying a set of all four of these for £294 delivered.

you would hope you can GET AWAY WITH Y rated tyres.

W rated upto 168mph

Y rated upto 186mph

so most zeds should be fine with either of these

hope this helps

jase

I have Proxies and they are Z rated.

I have Proxies and they are Z rated.

I have Proxes too and I'm sure mine are Z rated as well. Bloody good tyre (ducks and runs away quickly before a tyre war thread begins!!! :) :) )

225/50/16's x 4, it was an on-line quote with http://www.mytyres.co.uk

DISCLAIMER - I'm not saying that I recommend this company, I may when they turn up, but not at the moment :D

PMSL   :D

dave you cant recommend them either way, they havent paid up!

Just a quick, slightly off topic question; if I change the default size of 225/50R16 to a wider tyre, what is the largest recommended width/sidewall size?

BTW, ive used them (mytyres) and they were spot on with delivery times. Would use them again.

Brian.

I used mytyres to buy Toyo Proxes for all four corners. They were great and very cheap. I'd recommend them in an instant. At least it's a trader I'm allowed to recommend ;)

So far I've find the Proxes to be very good. They're wearing well (though I'm not really one for leaving rubber on the road anyway), and they're quieter than the Pirellis I took off. Grip is good enough for my stock TT.

Most you could go is a 245/45ZR/16.like the Falken-451,Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 is another at 255/50/16 ,Toyo do a 235/50zr/16 and a 245/45/ZR16,

Tony :)

I have heard Proxes wear very well, but are cr*p in the wet, like many of the tyres of Jap imports, rubber is as hard as nails.

John

here is a question then -

if you aren't worried about tyre wear what is the best tyre?

Regards,

alex

TonyC - Cheers for that.

dixonjohn - Ive found them to be fine in the wet, as long as your not flooring it around corners ;)

Hmmmm ffs leave the recommendation arguements - if you knew what I know you wouldn't be so ****ing cocky

Toyo Proxes T1-s are superb tyres - wet OR dry. I had fulda extremo carrOts on mine and the grip was appauling - now back on toyo's and managed to floor it in 2nd up the sliproad in STANDING WATER this morning without any spin :D They do actually wear quite badly. One thing people don't realise is that there are actually different compounds available for the tyres. Softer rubber will give better grip with higher wear, and vice versa.

I would seriously recommend mytyres too! Maybe they would consider club discounts? I'd arrange it but I don't wanna get shot down for trading without a license... ;)

Just phoned them to find delivary times........................... wednesday or thursday next weekk

So much for 24 hours, thats only if you want Avon's, as thats all they've got in stock.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, we'll see.

stick with mytryes. :)

i've ordered from them lots of times, thay may take a while but they are cheap. :)

Oh toyo's are superb too. :) ignore duff though, his car couldn't knock the skin off a rice pud. LOL :D

Stick with mytyres

I use them, cant beat thier price. Ive cotinentals on at the moment but mite try proxis next

Arthur

I got a quote from Mytyres for my proxes then I went to my tyre man who was only another 20 quid all fitted. Which was nice!

But then again, I do know him and have spent thousands with him over the last 17 years!

FYI: mytyres hold all their high performance tyres in a warehouse in Germany - hence the long delivery time (occasionally). Apparently tyre prices (wholesale) are a lot cheaper on the continent than they are on this island ...

Must agree - I have Toyo Proxes on all for corners of my car and they are superb! I would almost say they rival Bridgestone S-O2/S-O3's and that's saying a lot! But contrary to Andy Duff's observation about quick wear - mine are still fine after 5k miles of often "spirited" driving (I must drive like a granny then by some standards ... :))

Am really looking forward to haveing these fitted. About time I got the right size tyres on the Z, cant beleive someone had fitted 215's :xxx:

Also noticed that there was a cracking line running all the way round the FNS tyre at the base of the tread , as this is what has prompted me to replace them so soon ( was going to wait untill they had worn out a bit more)
