OK, I've been learning all about upgrade turbos and boost controllers, but now it seems there's fuel controllers to learn about too!

I've heard that ecus can provide sufficient fuelling to sort out higher boost levels, but is this truely effective, or do we need a fuel controller too? I already have an ecu chip which is supposed to fuel my old set up with boost jets running around 15psi, but I since the boost jets came off it smells like it's running too rich. Does this mean my ecu is set at one fuel level (too high). I certainly seem to be putting a lot of petrol in!!!

Apexi power FC with controller, lets you map the car yourself. just got one for mine off Ebay. This will replace your existing ecu, can use boost solenoid to set boost rather than jets and works to control fuel aswell as a load of other tricks.

Have a job fitting a PFC on a Zed

Nigel, with a properly mapped ECU, there is no need for a fuel controller, they're pretty crude anyway.

You'll be running rich at high load without boost jets, as the ECU aims for very rich fuel mixtures (~10:1) - at high boost it can't hit this, so will run leaner (maybe ~11.5) but at low boost, it can so it'll run rich.

Also because of the way they fudge the ecu into extra fueling, you'll only be able to use as much as the end of the maps will allow - ie they are useless. Another factor to consider is that the ecu uses the signals from the MAS and the TPS for ignition timing - change these and the timing won't be right in the maps....
