I've given up on the old avcr-r, the car goes, so that'll do for me (apart from a slipping clutch now).

 

I just got off the phone from Luke, Just waiting to sort out one thing, then it should be going in, not sure what I'm gonna do without my Z for 5 weeks though............walk I suppose!

What you mean for a Tech in the UK? Don't think you can get 'em over here can yer? Which is why I ended up getting mine from Phuong.

Think mine was $400, think the recommended is about $430. They come up on eBay frequently and usually make $380-ish upwards.

Techtom MDM-100(Multi Display Monitor)

 

Plugs into the Consult port on yer Z and displays useful output from the various sensors on the car. Not all of the sensors, but can be useful for diagnosing niggly problems and keeping a more detailed eye on what the car is doing. Shows vehicle speed, RPM, O2 sensor output, Temp sensor, timing etc. etc.

Anyway update on the unit i can get and well i cant update you lol, cause i cant get hold of the guy doing the software,,.... but based on the price of the techtom, i think it will actually be more expensive

I almost went to say I'm interested in a group buy, but I'm not sure there is any extra useful info it would give me, other than the water temp & air-flow voltage... all the other other details are on the avc-R or o2 can be done as a seperate test without buying anything?

 

The apexi multi-meter would have been good as it also shows the injector duty which the techtom doesn't... but if you 're going to buy that you might as well get the apexi-AFC instead?

I have heard of way to many probs with Apexi probs, so i would rather go for techtom (well my unit when i get it one day lol)

 

 

Jez mate, when you say Injector Duty what do you mean? English please for us numpties...well me anyway! LOL!

 

Coz Major Tom does show the opening times in milliseconds of injectors 1 & 2 so surely if it's about the amount of fuel flowing through you can work that out anyway? If you know the CC of the injectors.

Injector Duty is (AFAIK) what percentage of the time each injector is open for..

 

So 90% means they are open 90% of the time..

Exactly Az, cheers for clearing that "duty" malarky up! So I was right then, Techtom does show inj. 1 & 2 so if you're hell bent on monitoring all six then it's not for you...otherwise, jobs-a-goodun!

A shame you have to take a calculator with you to read the techtom duty %.

 

Can't some clever person write a little windows program to interface to the ecu diag to simulate the console... if only!
