im thinking of removing my air con, is there any problems with doing this. ie does the belt run anything else. also has anyone else done so.

reasons are i have never used it, even though it is in full working condition, i prefer roof off. small power gains and more MPG. lol.

also alternator bearings making noise fine when sprayed with a little WD40 for around a week. can these be replaced or is it a recon unit.

let us know.

cheers "T".......

Tony, should be fairly easy to remove the AC system although you are supposed to get it properly discharged , ripped all of mine out , no power gain to speak off but the car does run cooler now the condensor has gone.

Hi there,

Had the same problem with my alt. Started to squeak when i put it under full load(stereo on ,air con, lights etc...) but found i only had to re-adjust my tension and problem solved. Also ive read on another thread that the z turns the air con off when you put your foot to the floor(power mode). Not sure if its true though? Id like to see what people say.

mine is not squeeking more like somebody thrown in a hand full of gravel. i do have a spare one from andyZ but didnt want to throw old one, just wanted to see if you could replace any type of bearing.

Tony I removed the condensor myself and associated piping and just cut the belt to the AC pulley , SE removed the compressor when they fitted my new tubs , but its not that difficult to remove.

off topic, but is it wise to pull it out when selling? it may be a feature a future buyer wants on the car?
