When I got my Z a few people on here had sugested using Norton/Heritage, and I've got to agree they were very good at what they did. Especially as i have a runabout and that has got my no-claims bonus on it.
Right here's the deal;
Norton
1) You must have your other car FULLY insured with No-Claims on the other car.
2) This is a Classic car policy, with limited use. (ie, mine is 3000 miles)
3) This policy takes no account of your No-Claims bonus, as long has you are insured with another company for your other car.
4) cost for me this year was £352.10
Now today I decided to check to see if 1) I could UP my mileage to 5000 miles due to the fact that I'm enjoying driving it too much :D. So I rang them up and asked if I can do it and how much it was. The lady, who incidently didnt seem too sure as to what the **** she was doing, told me that I can do it, but it is a whole year up-grade, ie; makes no differance when I up-grade. She quoted me £170 for the extra 2000 per year.
I also asked if they could do somthing for me, because I'm about to change my job and wont need my other car, she told me that they could do that but would give me a quote at the time. Now I'm thinking if I'm paying £352.10 now, + the £170 up-grade for 5000 miles, HOW BLOODY MUCH ARE THEY GOING TO CHARGE ME FOR A FULL POLICY????? :shock:
So I rang Houghtons this afternoon, and they gave me a quote of only £445, fully comp, full no-claims, no accidents, no convictions, sd&p inc to work. :duffer: well pleased with that. That being limited to 7500 miles per year, but protected ncb would be another 10%, not too bad though.
Personally I think that Norton are quite good if you use another car and want to have a limited use policy on your Z. But for everyday use of your Z I think that Houghtons seem fair.
