somebody on this forum has resprayed their interior dash (plastic bits) in silver. jsut wanted to know who it was and whether they could tell me how the did it (preferably step by step instructions).

cheers.

p.s. i know most of you will think....that all that is needed is a silver spray can but i assure you it is a little more complicated.

Step by step instructions:

1. Spray with paint

2. wait for paint to dry

3. admire your handy work

:D

or being serious:

1. Removal all plastic bits

2. rub down with 600-grit wet n' dry

3. wipe clean with thinner

4. spray with your choice of paint (preferably in 2 or 3 light coats)

5. Take the parts down to your local spray shop, and get them to top coat with a two-pac lacquer.

6. Pay the guy his £20 and then admire your new (and scratch resistant) placcy bits

Si.

James, was just looking at the old posts. Has your painted bits lasted? I've seen a couple which have started flaking etc. Did you ever do your window switches?

Foliatec do a range of paints just for this kind of thing. They do a 'special for plastics' primer. Then a base coat, then a few coats of your chosen colour and then a couple o coats of laquer. If you take the time to do a proper job with the preparation you can get professional looking results. Dont rush it! I did mine many years ago and they are still ok.

Foliatec paints are (or were) available through Demon Tweeks

Yep, looks the same now as it did the first day I did it. As Mark says, just take your time and prep it properly and it will last.

I did the vent surround on the doors but left the switches - thought it was a little too much. Got a pic at home, I'll post it up later.

Cheers mate

is that the Liberace/spaceship mod ?
