Hi

Having a bash at cleaning the connectors on the injectors this weekend, what do I have to remove - any funny tools needed etc? Gonna clean up any grotty green copper connections I find. Do I actually have to remove the injectors so clean up the connections?

Any info would be great ta

Cheers

Pete

Pete, same problem as i had the other week. Your best off buying the repair kit for what it costs.

If the connectors are in good condition i.e not cracked then you should be ok , most people yank them off without removing the retaining clips which break the already brittle connectors , providing you remove these first you should be fine Pete, just get some good contact cleaner.

We did Leighs at the weekend and used a dremmel type small drill with a small carbide cutting tool to clean them up. Works a treat.

Agree with Chris, its best to replace the plugs, but you'll still need to clean the pins on the injectors anyway.

Cheers boys :) I presume they are accessed by removing the throttle cable cover?

The manual goes on about draining the coolant... why?

Bit of an odd thing to say the two are in no way connected :)

Cheers John - I've got a dremel so that should help. I would wait til I'm coming up to yours but I've got some time on Saturday too.

Ryan - yeah I thought that - read this:

Thats cos you looked at the section for REMOVING the injectors Pete ;) To do that the plenum has to come off ;)

Ahhh :nelson: cheers Andy ;) I'll try Nissan for the plugs... anyone got the part number while I'm searching? :D

Cheers

Pete........I replaced all my injector connectors a few months ago. A fiddley job!! But really pleased with the results.

Coilpacks next (sorry John - taking ages for me to get around to doing this)

Right found the part numbers : 24079 25P26, says I need 2 - I presume they are in threes then?

Jimbo - some tips would be great cheers for offering :D:D:D Did you swap any of the O-rings too?

O-rings will require removal of the injectors, ie removal of the plenum, ie a huge job ;)

There aren't any magic tips I'm afraid. Just take your time, obviously disconnect the battery, it is a fiddley little job. And once you push those new one's on - make sure everything is good because they are an unbelievable PITA to get back off again. So are you getting new one's or cleaning existing?

I did 3 one day then 3 another - only cos it was boring and each time was after work!! But I wanted to do them properly.

Didn't swap any O-rings? That would be if you were removing the injectors?

Yeah thats a damn good point actually - you MUST disconnect the battery since they are fed with a permanent live supply. Touch this on the engine and watch the sparks fly LOL Hey, at least you won't have to go through the agony of selling it if its burnt out :D ;)
