How do I adjust the idle?

Since doing a lot of tinkering lately the Z seems to be idling around 1500rpm and sometimes hits 2000.

I've cleaned the air filter, throttle bodies (disconnected battery) and fitted the boost upgrade so I think it needs adjusting.

I presume there is a screw somewhere...?

What should my Jap '91 TT idle at?

Chris,

not sure what milage you've done since disconecting the battery, but I'm sure it takes a good few hundred miles before the ecu sorts out the idleing.

True, but the idle adjustment sets the lower limit. If that is too high then the ECU cannot compensate. General theory is that you set the idle adjustment to something like 650-700ish, then let the ECU take over. That way it should never stall whatever the engine temp and the ECU will keep the tickover stable at about 50 or so RPM above the minimum.

Just done same last weekend. I didnt read the instructions properly - like you do! The screw is just next to the battery so you need a short flat blade to reach it - Tried adjusting all the way and nothing happpened- you have to disconnect the plug on the idle valve silly so the ecu was compensating all the time. Did it again with plug off and got it down to 700rpm. Plug goes back on and ecu brings it up to 750rpm were it should be. Just shows you cant beat the ecu unless you disconnect it!
